is there any major difference between Global Rom and China rom?

Most of the Note 5 in Lazada are export set so Im guessing they're china roms, but it was mentioned they will install playstore. Those phones are slightly cheaper, thinking of getting them.

288 for local set if u r worried

What with the anti-rollback features? Why suddenly implement this?
Will affect older phone?

Not sure, but my assumption is they want people to stop flashing custom roms and use their miui skin. So far it only affects redmi note 5 and not the other xiaomi devices, i think because this phone has the highest development community that's why.

I notice the miui rom website is back up, but they no longer provide previous versions to download. Hmm...

it's a google security feature

every time they update the rom (and the android version), there will be some security patches. security vulnerabilities get discovered all the time, and they always patch with newer roms.

of course, the longer time a vulnerability is known, the more time the hacking community has to develop exploits and circulate methods / programs to abuse it.

google's point is to prevent phone thieves, if they are trying to get into your phone's system to get your locked information, from simply flashing to an older rom with an old and known vulnerability they're looking for and exploit it to hack into your phone. this is too easy for them.

it's something implemented by google in android oreo. xiaomi just got pulled along for the ride.

although other androids have methods of disabling anti rollback. xiaomi hasn't implemented this yet.

Just got my new RN5 guys. During initial setup I had to reboot the phone twice as it was stuck in "Just wait a sec" for a very long time. Setup is done now but any cause for concern?

Alright, noted.

Initially, I thought xiaomi IPO liao, than start to chu stunt and make flashing rom difficult.

I am still using redmi note 3, no plan to upgrade anytime sooner. It still running fast except everyone out of space. Abit irritating since email will not sync when out of space.
