Not jtbc, some random mobile shop name at lazada. But im alright with it though. Default come with miui 9.5 global rom but its unlocked. Luckily not the latest version

Check if the global rom is OIIMIFA or OEIMIFA.

OEIMIFA is the official global rom. OIIMIFA is fake rom.

Aiyo.. .this Anti-rollback mechanism suck leh :

http://en.miui.com/thread-3156438-1-1.html

this is a stupid move. I for one didn't know about this, I imagine lots of ppl don't either. When (its a "when" cos they have released rubbish updates b4) they release a buggy rom, ppl cannot downgrade to a working version?@? So ridiculous.

I know its a google feature, but at least give us the option to turn it off...

After reading about the new anti rollback "feature", I turned off auto update for my Redmi Note 5 as a precaution, lol....

BTW, 9.5.19.0 update is out. Any brave souls here tried it yet? Safe to update?

I agreed! Should give us the option to turn it off or turn-off by default once bootloader unlocked.

That's why I'm like is it they want others to keep MIUI or just dun want other developers to change their phone OS?

This morning when I check my phone, it had auto downloaded 9.5.22 china rom update last night even though I have turn off auto update in the updater app. I am puzzled. My current version is 9.5.21 china rom, which the last official stable china rom that doesn't have the anti-rollback feature. Tried to delete the update to no avail. Tried to do a backup restore but the backup file didn't show up on TWRP. :vijayadmin:. Did a factory restore, but it went into bootloop instead.

Reflashed 9.5.21 china rom with Miflash wiping out everything. The phone is still unlocked, but TWRP recovery and root is gone. Flashed TWRP and rooted the phone again using Magisk.

Now using Mi Mover to move all apps and data from RMN4x.

Whole morning wasted on this. :vijayadmin:

You managed to successfully rollback from 9.5.22.0 to 9.5.21.0 ???

You are lucky that twrp recovery still there, if it overrides your twrp to stock recovery after update then there's no way to rollback. Very scary even turn off auto update will update

No, I did not apply the update. It prompt me with 2 options - either reboot to update immediately, or leave it to auto-update tonight.

When I flashed 9.5.21 using Miflash, it wiped off twrp and revert to stock recovery. I had to flash twrp using fastboot. Yes, i am still puzzled why turning off auto update doesn't work in my case.

I see, i thought xiaomi disabled flashing of custom recovery via fastboot in the anti rollback

is there any major difference between Global Rom and China rom?

Most of the Note 5 in Lazada are export set so Im guessing they're china roms, but it was mentioned they will install playstore. Those phones are slightly cheaper, thinking of getting them.
