At the moment yes, but I suspect upcoming Mi Max 3 will have this "feature" too. Seemed like it's a Oreo feature so may be will affected those device running Oreo.

does this affect china rom?

i just sent my china set for RMA. expecting to get it back in about 2 weeks' time and to get the shop to help flash to global at the same time.

wah hope i'm not stuck to my china rom!

Oh man, the anti rollback is gonna be a big issue. I read reports there is no way to install fastboot roms, even EDL mode will fail after u update it. How to install custom rom like that.

It only happens once u update to miui 10 8.7.5?? If using miui 10 beta previous version still okay??

Posted from PCWX using ONEPLUS A6003

is there any way to flash to global rom in this case?

My understanding is :

The last builds without anti roll-back are:

Global Stable (Miui 9) 9.5.17.0
Global Beta (Miui 10) 8.7.5

China ROM (Miui 9) 9.5.21.0
China Developer (Miui 10) 8.7.5

If you're on the above rom, you can downgrade and cross-flash (china to global & vice-versa) to lower version.

If you're on say China ROM 9.5.22.0 you can cross-flash & upgrade to higher version but cannot downgrade to 9.5.21.0 and below...and apparently cannot flash custom rom ... :(

Yes, affect China rom too :

But you can still flash to global rom, just that if the China ROM is 9.5.22.0 or above, you can only flash to Global Stable 9.5.19.0 and above...

so is there any issue with cross flashing on the latest china rom?

there was an older version of the china rom that required u to flash to a lower version before u could cross to global right?

Haizzz, this move will affect xiaomi greatly. What is the purpose of having project treble then. What if we flash custom rom that has latest version of android, does it still work?

Posted from PCWX using ONEPLUS A6003

it's an inherent android function i read, not much to do with xiaomi

On the custom rom part, still not too sure...
Anyway, there is an Unofficial FAQ on Anti-Rollback that said can flash custom rom... so just wait for further development :

May be just stay on existing China rom first (and install the Google Play) while waiting other to test out ... since yours is export set, cannot send to Mi Service Centre if anything go wrong!

aiya mafan.

i don't want to go back to simlim once more just to flash global. i'd rather do it all one shot.

also jialat now that the rom auto updates OTA. even if u don't press it, it will update anyway.

where should I go for discussions on people who cross flash different region roms? can keep an eye out

If accidentally pressed update, can go downloaded rom folder to remove the new rom file.

Anyone knows where got good price for note 5?

Searched lazada, only see $249 for 32gb, with local warranty. This isn't a good price right?

Lol, i receive my redmi note 5 today in the mail, everything sealed in plastic all..but when i boot it up for the first time, strangely it doesnt ask me to set up straight away boot to home screen. Then i go to settings, check the bootloader is already unlocked lol

Means my device is used and not mint condition. But im also happy coz i can straight away flash custom roms lol

Dun see any thread on that, only those that hard-brick rn5 after downgrade from Miui 10 Beta rom...

Since yours RMA case and the shop doing the flashing, why worry? The shop should be very good in this....
