The basic lineage oreo first. Ideally I want a rom with built in privacy guard. It has option to prevent auto app startup on boot, prevent keep awake and prevent run in background. I get really good standby time on my mi max with privacy guard.

Does it have wifi 5Ghz AC as stated?
Dual 4G on standby?

5ghz wifi. cant test how fast it goes since my router maxes out at ~300mbps on every device.

no idea, just received it and OTA straight to the rom.

Battery life still very good though. used 45% in a working day with ~2h gaming and ~1h reading novel. Brightness was on Auto. The screen goes much brighter than redmi note 4x and is easily legible in daylight as well.

Finally tried flashing the leaked global rom. My first time flashing roms...was actually quite simple. Global rom seems to use less ram compared to china rom.

Definitely.. cheena rom has a ton of useless bloat and spyware

Uninstall all the preinstalled app then set everything to google as default.

Managed to unlock phone without waiting for 360 hours On china stable rom. The trick is to use 2 accounts.
Both accounts must have applied for unlock permissions. http://en.miui.com/unlock/

Login first account on phone, Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status. Tap on “Add Account” to bind to phone. Also enable OEM unlock option

Restart to fastboot (hold volume down + power button)

Using mi flash tool, login to first account and try to unlock, you will have 360h timer.

Restart phone, sign out of miui and login to second account, but DO NOT BIND PHONE. Then restart to fastboot

Login to second account on mi flash tool, then unlock will be successful without timer

Finally managed to get 4k recording with stabilization, the main purpose of buying this phone...

0) copy the magisk.zip into phone
1) reboot to fastboot (vol down + power)
2) after you unzip, press shift right click mouse, open command window here
3) copy and paste the following into command window
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery.img
4) In twrp recovery, reboot into recovery again. Somehow after flashing if you dont manually try to boot to twrp recovery, the default xiaomi recovery is booted
5) flash magisk.zip
6) reboot phone, go play store search for es file explorer or any other root explorer
7) Go to /system/etc/device_features/whyred.xml
8) Find the line that says "support_camera_4k_quality"
9) Change the >false< to >true<

Now you can open miui camera app

Some of us bought the price is even cheaper then what they sell at China retail price.. Dun ask me why.. I not sure also.. 32gb/3gb is retail abt 239 sing, 64gb/4gb is abt 297..so any prices below this is best buy.. Like the recent 32gb/3gb can buy at 204 and 64gb at 269..the lowest so far

Dun expect much. Infact recent studies show mobile phone sale is super stagnant.. Except xiaomi and Huawei growth the rest drop.. It is to show that if no more new technology the market is getting worse.. Phone of 1 2 years ago still very powerful.. I m still using mi mix.. 2016 flagship and no see point of changing phones. That's why u see some scam company purposely slow down yr phone to let u have fake impression the phone is slow need to change.. U know which coy hor?
