I was delighted when i saw Mi SG was bringing it in.

Looked at the specs, great phone!

Then i saw that it uses the ancient micro USB. Even my Mi A1 and S8 uses USB-C already. :(

Deal breaker for me.

care to explain why usb c matters? both are still using usb 2.0 standard.

Can just get those micro USB cables that has an attached USB-C adaptor, best of both worlds. :s12:

micro usb will wear out at the cable, not the port.

usb c wears out the port. if you google that its a common issue for usb c phones

They can't possibly give you all the sweet points.

When compared with A1, you'll have to make the choice for eg. :-

A1 - Got latest USB-C, but older cpu and smaller battery.

RN5 - No USB-C, but got newer cpu and larger battery.

Well, even tho RN5 has just been released this year. :s8:

Anyone using the 3GB+32GB Note 5 can share what's the available RAM like usually?

Pondering between the 64GB and 32GB, since JTBC is selling it at a very attractive price for both memory variant.

yeah gotta make some sacrifices. I would rather pick new CPU with microUSB than older CPU with Type C. I can always use an adapter to convert the port but there's no way to make the 625 run as fast as the 636 :s13:

USB C is good. It's reversible. And most gadgets now support USB C so it's more convenient. I used to dread USB C because I don't have any spare cables for it but now, I have more USB C cable than microUSB :s13:

32Gb from JTBC should be safe to buy right? Btw there’s additional $10 discount on Shopee if you have Citibank card.

Personally I find lack of Type-C port just a very minor downside. It shouldn't put you off from getting the phone.

I hope mi.sg brings in the 6gb/64 version. If the price/colour/spec is right, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.. :s12:

Not about whether the phone has issue, it's more on whether the set is Chinese or Indian. :o

I just bought a set off carousel. its the global rom with China specs. So you dont have to worry about it being China or Indian set

Hi. I am buying a Redmi 5 Plus off carousell. It is supposed to be a local set. How do I check/ensure that it is a legitimate model and that the OS/ROM is how it should be? (Are there any fake ones?)

Thanks!
