go miui 9.5 and tap miui until you get developer settings.

then go settings > additional settings > developer options and turn off miui optimization and memory optimization

Is it very troublesome to flash global rom? I saw a guide online from xda and seems a lot of work, not sure if there are any other better guides around. The redmi 5 plus I got does not have play store, sigh. I will just return this if I can risk bricking the phone by flashing myself.

Also, on youtube there is a guide to install playstore from Mi Store, what difference does it make from flashing a global rom?

not much, global rom has better notifications but china rom gets faster updates. im staying on china rom myself, installing google services is very easy.

Ah I see. I never fully understood the Global ROM thing, I thought the phone would be unusable outside China if you do not have Global ROM flashed, seems like it is not the case.

heard its for chinese services and can actually make google apps run poorer. turning it off improved both my standard SOT and standby battery drain. now is around 2% a night instead of 4%.

Some apps dont work properly. best is to flash gpobal

Am considering this phone. Been so long. Lost track of the discussion.

Is SG this the China/India version ? Is the official specs for SG phone available ? If not, which one should I refer to ?

Export set both version. Local set is China international ROM.
