The China Redmi Note 5 is rumored to have a better camera specs than the Indian RN5p

a surprise doesnt mean its better. it might just be saying its better when compared to the note 4, not compared to the note 5 pro which isnt even in their market.

China Redmi Note 5 will likely to come with a 12MP+20MP dual camera rear setup, and a 16MP front camera.

Both rear and front camera will come integrated with AI ~

Maybe that's why they want to make such a clear distinction between Indian RMN5P and China RNM5, thus the difference names.

Hmmm, I have a feeling its the same camera, with additional AI features integrated into miui camera app...which frankly not really exclusive coz can flash the rom. Have to wait and see if its gonna be different.

But no matter, most of the export units come from china sets. So in the end we will most probably buy china sets.

rn5p has 12mp + 5mp depth sensor and a 20mp front facing camera. different hardware means u cant flash between them unless you would like a bricked phone.

But what does this 全网通 means?
全网通 means the phone is able to support the three telcos in China, which are 移动(China Mobile)/联通(China Unicom)/电信(China Telecom).

In the past where phones don't support 全网通, they are sold in three variants, namely 移动版/联通版/电信版. This mean if you use one of the variant designed for that particular telco, you can't use it for another telco.

Should wait this out. India RN5P users reported QuickCharge only works with specific Xiaomi chargers & power banks. 2nd rear camera don't work well, give fake effect, overexposure.

Source: GsmArena RN5P opinions section.

I'm interested in the modem/antenna quality, coz it affects battery consumption.

have u actually seen the photos it takes? its bokeh effect is close to pixel level good. The overexposure is a real issue but i dont see how going GCAM wont fix it.

Something like that, because the 3 telcos uses different 3G network standards so in the past before 4G came, there was no standardisation.

移动(CMCC) uses the TD-SCDMA network standard for its 3G, 联通(CUCC) uses the WCDMA standard for its 3G, while 电信(CTCC) uses the CDMA2000 for its 3G.
The different 3G standard means manufacturer have to create different variants for each telco.

Now with 4G, the three telcos all uses the two common FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, and with the introduction of 全网通 it means manufacturer don't have to make a few telco variants of a phone model.

https://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/comparison

Good thing is 636 supports TruSignal, which translates to better performing radio & battery savings.

Its a shame Xiaomi castrated Aqstic, so no hires audio at all. What a pity.

Dual camera, more powerful processor(SD636) is what set the difference between Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

still no news on when it will be released in sg leh.. zz

If u are talking about official SG release, dont wait. Just buy export set, its cheaper and there's no difference in software. Store will flash global rom for you. Very soon will see stores exporting from china set.

Warranty is not really necessary. If u break ur phone screen, warranty wont cover one, still need to pay.
