Personally, I think if one needs assurance, just capture the their website into a jpg with date. And keep it. If XM SG does not honour the warranty, we just go back to RWM to honour it. They may not be able to repair it but they may need to compensate one somehow.

The loophole I think would be if they claim RWM also sell export set which does not show on their website for this model. By comparing the price $298/- and date on the receipt with their website $298/-, it will that the price what one has paid is for the claimed "Xiaomi Singapore Warranty Set".

I read here that RWM has a long standing in the SG market and could be trusted. I have no prior dealings with RWM and neutral. Just for an academic discussion.

Another shop I have previously bought from before is KASIA which their website says "100% Local Set" (http://kasiamobile.com/phones/xiaomi/). I think this claim is more powderful but they selling at $330/-.

Actually why dun u ask Xiaomi Singapore directly if the Malaysia set from RWM under warranty?

All are export set . Warranty cover by shop . Just get the cheapest set lah . Warranty coverage is up to them to say .

If want peace of mind , pay another $100 plus to get from the official shop.

So jtbc or hitec?

Actually why dun u ask Xiaomi Singapore directly if the Malaysia set from RWM under warranty?

1. XM SG website warranty says it warranty XM products. Not on product bought in SG or from their official channel.

2. But somebody wrote in to them and from their EMAIL reply, I think you'll get the picture. The email says if not delivery address not SG, they can still confirm it's genuine. Please keep the invoice.

3. I don't think it's fair to ask XM SG to comment whether they would warranty XM phone from RWM. They can tell you whether they are authorised or not. Even if the seller are authorised, they can also carry export sets. We don't know the agree between XM SG and the seller whether they forbid them to sell export sets. One would think so, but even if there is, you expect XM SG to go in and audit them ? No, right ?

4. If you have a IMEI, I guess, you can ask them in writing to confirm for you. But I guess they would still cover themselves by asking you to present your invoice and they have the final say later on... official channel (what is the definition of that ???)

I'm just talking academically here from a GK an learning point of view.

Thank god indeed. I also got email reply from Xiaomi.
"I understand that you want to check the authenticity of your phone as you are getting the delivery address is Malaysia. With respect to your concern, would like to inform you that if you have purchased the product from our official channel, we could guarantee it to be genuine. Also, warranty of your device considered from the date mentioned in the invoice. "

Guess I can skip the trip to the service centre. Thanks bro!

Yes . Android version : 8.1.0 opm1.171019.011 . Is that China version ?

Thanks for sharing, 13MP front camera plus Android 8, this should be the Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera (aka China Variant in HWZ).

Congrats on your new hoot!

Don't get confused btw China Variant and China ROM. This is the China Variant (in HWZ lingo) i.e AI Dual Camera but yours is preloaded with Global ROM.

Technically it should be Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera: https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_5_ai_dual_camera-9120.php

The ROM depends on which country it is being sold. For unit sold in China, they are preloaded with China Rom but outside China, Global Rom.

I check with the IMEI number on their website .

It stated delivery : China . So it should be China set.

Seal set come with playstore and all Google app . All the standard app without those unnecessary China app .
I thought they will break the seal and install the playstore and come with China app .

JTBC now offers the cheapest export set on Shopee but it's on China ROM and you need to be prepared to wait a while as they don't have ready stocks.

Hitec offers the 4+64 export set at $280 on Shopee and it's on Global ROM.
