Google pay is quite useless on a redmi phone isn't it, without NFC

Oh ya... Redmi no NFC. Cos buying for my dad, will prefer a standard global rom that he can use without issue.

Mine JTBC group set is exactly the same as his except is a older version as I has not update yet . That meant is a gobal rom ?

If really global rom will be great. No need to unlock bootloader which is so troublesome for XM phone.

1. XM SG website warranty says it warranty XM products. Not on product bought in SG or from their official channel.

2. But somebody wrote in to them and from their EMAIL reply, I think you'll get the picture. The email says if not delivery address not SG, they can still confirm it's genuine. Please keep the invoice.

3. I don't think it's fair to ask XM SG to comment whether they would warranty XM phone from RWM. They can tell you whether they are authorised or not. Even if the seller are authorised, they can also carry export sets. We don't know the agree between XM SG and the seller whether they forbid them to sell export sets. One would think so, but even if there is, you expect XM SG to go in and audit them ? No, right ?

4. If you have a IMEI, I guess, you can ask them in writing to confirm for you. But I guess they would still cover themselves by asking you to present your invoice and they have the final say later on... official channel (what is the definition of that ???)

I'm just talking academically here from a GK an learning point of view.

I asked about warranty when buying the phone at rwm. The salesperson told me XM Sg will honour the warranty as long as you bring the invoice with you. If you lose your invoice, the onus is on you.

My 32GB black from JTBC came with China ROM without any Google services. I had to unlock bootloader and flash to Global myself.

Somehow Shopee didn't auto-cancel my order so I end up having 2 sets now.

Your should be global rom but whether is pre-loaded in factory or flashed by the shop is hard to tell.

You mentioned the words on the box is Chinese so yours could be Hong Kong set which i believe is running on global rom: http://www.mi.com/hk/redmi-note-5/

I have not seen Hong Kong set box before so I can't be sure. Can you tell if the Chinese words on the box is traditional or simplified Chinese. If it is former, likely is Hong Kong set.

Anyway, you already hooted the phone and it comes with global rom so just enjoy using it and don't have worry about flashing rom on your own.

I think the question should be is Hitec selling Redmi Note 5 Pro i.e Indian set with 20MP front camera or Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera (aka China variant in HWZ context).

Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera comes with China Rom for units intended for China market and Global Rom for intended for outside China.

There are comparisons done btw Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera and the latter seems to fare better in terms of camera pic quality and hence it is more sort after.

Just my 2 cents.

The local Indians in India can't manage to get one during their flash sale, don't think they have enough stock for exporters too.

The best way to identify of it's an HK or CN set is to see what charger plug is bundled in the phone packaging box.

HK supplies the 3-pin UK plug, while CN supplies the flat 2-pin plug.
