Not promoting. Just my 2 cents thoughts. I've been using XiaoMi just over 2 years and Redmi Note 5 is just my 2nd XiaoMi phone. No regrets at all.

Think the xm phones from redmi note 4 are generally quite good. The earlier mi4i isn't that good.

RMN4 MTK still not that good at the start. But after countless software updates, with MIUI 9 update onwards then really much better.

Much lesser thermal throttling, stable performance most of the time. When thermal throttling also not super hot, performance lags but still can use (sort of).

Never take phone with MTK processor.

I asked taozi if this will have the halo effect and this is what they reply.

"Never test, you try when received"

****i...

Taozi last time very friendly and accomodative one.. Now ask them measure the screen size of their product.. They tell me no ruler.. Knn one.. Now I seldom buy from him/her unless need it urgently.

We sama sama. :D

This is also why when I get fone from telco (recon), I will "scrutinize" it sweeswee before leaving the place.

Bcos I know the fone has been opened up by the telcos beforehand for them to install their smlj telco bloatwares and paste their logo sticker. :D

Well they could also send info to apple and ask them to install those apps before sending out of the factory.

Their shop at Geylang. You see their timing, Mon-Sun open. Once been there. Recently, drop by. Were 2 people then. They don't talk, just continuously working. You talk to them, they give short replies. Then turn back to work. Like very stressed to deliver. Business must be very good.

I ask them about the halo, they say, it's like that. If you don't want the halo, get full cover. Then go back to work. They keep rushing until I feel very paisei to ask anymore. ha ha...

If you are looking for cheap phone, the Redmi 6 is good enough.

If you have the budget, can consider topping up to get the Redmi Note 5.

As for me, my requirement is a not so big phone. Was waiting for Redmi 5 until offer came along for Redmi 4X and I got one. Lucky, Redmi 5 Plus was big.

Same, I also don’t like phones that’s unsealed. However, thanks to the Information provided, now that I know there’s global rom version ACTUALLY for sale. But didn’t see many of such eh. Shall do a search again.

I’m actually looking for note 5 pro with 6gb ram, and today BOOM(JTBC) increase the price from 289 to 329!

I've used 3 sp from them, going to apply another one soon. No halo in the centre. Could be due to oil residue.

For the 2nd sp, I didn't just get a think halo margin, after applying for a few days, the halo on one side "eats inside" a little bit (a small round curve inside). I cannot understand how this can happen since the glass is flat. If I didn't clean properly, it should appear very quickly and I would have reapplied if possible.

After sometime, the phone was dropped. The sp cracked starting from that spot. So I gather that the sp is defective and weak at that spot.

Reason why I still buy from them is that they are cheap. I bought a $10/- sp before and it cracked at the earpiece cut out. So I can't tell whether cheap or expensive sp are good or bad.

I bought Nanotech (Nanotech) and Sapphire (Maxtech) before which I didn't have problems. But they don't have Redmi sp.
