Managed to unlock phone without waiting for 360 hours On china stable rom. The trick is to use 2 accounts.
Both accounts must have applied for unlock permissions. http://en.miui.com/unlock/

Login first account on phone, Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status. Tap on “Add Account” to bind to phone. Also enable OEM unlock option

Restart to fastboot (hold volume down + power button)

Using mi flash tool, login to first account and try to unlock, you will have 360h timer.

Restart phone, sign out of miui and login to second account, but DO NOT BIND PHONE. Then restart to fastboot

Login to second account on mi flash tool, then unlock will be successful without timer

Anyone have problem registering the Grab app in the redmi note 5? I can't seem to get mine to work in the phone, but other cab apps like Comfort cab app is no problem.

Hi, after reading the thread, I’m still quite confused with which model n shop to get from.

Am I right that It is recommended to get from JTBC/Boom for the 64/4, which may come with global or China Rom? Both Rom will be able to install playstore (China Rom thru apk)?

There is no guarantee that you will get a unit with official global or china rom from there.

Take myself for example, I got one with OIIMIFA (non official rom) from them and I had to do a refund.

So for now onward, I will ask seller to provide the name of the ROM to make sure it is official before I buy.

So what's the global ROM and China ROM code?
And does that means that even if it's China Rom, u will buy as well?

Official Global = OEIMIFA
Official China = OEICNFA

I don't mind if it is official china as it can be flashed to official global.

If it is unofficial one such as the one I got which is OIIMIFA, no matter how you flash, it will still shows OIIMIFA. Someone had tried and mentioned in earlier posts.
