Dun know why ppl still "scare" of china ROM... infact i can tell u some advantages... they update more frequenly then global rom, They are more stable, Battery life china rom can be better.. china rom got AI for note 5, CHina rom can install and change chinese words font , China ROM got steps counter....any usually china ROM got more features then global rom..etc...

U know why more stable cause more users in china then the rest of the world they update and bugs faster and roll out patches faster also.. Only good thing about global rom is u got playstore google services all pre loaded... so dun have the misconception of china ROM.. and yes those extra china wares if u dun use can uninstall one..;)

tried this. doesnt work. anyone has any way to bypass 360 hours?

doesnt work anymore. xiaomi patched 3 weeks after i wrote that.
just wait 2 weeks to unlock.

China rom not that bad. i moved from china rom to global rom to lineage and back to china rom. Once you delete the unnecessary apps there are less background apps in china than global rom.

Custom rom do not support mi camera and third party camera apps has worse video stabilization performance.

Like you, I find the china rom is better than global rom. As for google playstore, installing it is a piece of cake.

I would still wish to unlock the bootloader and root it for the purpose of using certain apps that only works with a rooted phone (eg titanium backup), as well as installing TWRP recovery. However when it is time to sell the phone, I will always flash it to Global stable rom because most (if not all) buyers will want it.

But I don’t think we can ask seller thru Lazada/Qoo10 on the ROM version right? Don’t think they will reply or probably won’t guarantee it will be certain ROM.
Seems like it’s a risk to buy online.

How about getting from the official Mi store at Suntec? Is it China ROM?

There is no guarantee that you will get a unit with official global or china rom from there.

Take myself for example, I got one with OIIMIFA (non official rom) from them and I had to do a refund.

So for now onward, I will ask seller to provide the name of the ROM to make sure it is official before I buy.

I just got mine, so abt 10 days from jitbc order confirmation. Had some issue with fingerprint sensor but finally got it to work.

Rom is 9.5.6 global oiimifa which is kinda worrying cos I thot its supposed to be oeimifa

update:anyway started the process for the 360h unlock..so ridiculous

How did jtbc/boom manage to install modified rom without 360h unlock?

Is the shop aware of selling phone with modified rom, they should just sell with China rom

i think they are most likely have the same issues as us, they can just sell off the set they did the modified, while the rest still unlocking it?

I have also received a 6/64 note 5 from jtbc with OIIMIFA rom. It is not possible to reflash it, so requesting for refund is the only way out right?

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 4 using GAGT
