India's Note 5 = China's 5 Plus
India's Note 5 Pro = China's Note 5 AI

Thanks! You see I bought a couple of Redmi 5 Plus earlier in Aug from Newstead... I wanted to buy another but it's out of stock. It seems that next best option is the Redmi Note 5. When I check on GSMArena, they equate the Redmi 5 Plus to the Redmi Note 5... so I was rather confused...

Both models are locally available with Global ROM... are they the same? What you gave me muddies the water a little more... is the Redmi 5 Plus sold in Singapore = China's Redmi 5 Plus except that it has the Global ROM? And is India's Note 5 = Singapore's Redmi Note 5?

Both phones have slightly different Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series processors... The Note 5 I bought has a dual rear camera module. But the 5 Plus I bought only has one rear camera module. The screen size and resolution seems the same... very thoroughly confused now...

Anyway, anyone knows how to get those TPU screen protectors for the Redmi Note 5 & 5 Plus? I need a few per phone... other than Taobao, any local source that won't charge like $10 per screen protector?

Thanks!

I think only India has a different naming scheme. So,

India's Redmi Note 5 Pro = China's Redmi Note 5 = Singapore's Redmi Note 5

India's Redmi Note 5 = China's Redmi 5 Plus = Singapore's Redmi 5 Plus

At least that's what I concluded when I was deciding which phone to buy. I didn't end up with a Note 5, so perhaps someone can verify the above.

When buying from third party resellers, the easiest way would be to check the processor. One is Snapdragon 636, the other Snapdragon 625. Cannot go wrong one.

Rather than check if it's "global rom" or not, I believe it might be wiser to check if it's a China set or not. Sellers can and will flash global rom over China sets, then tell you it's a global set, but China sets might lack certain LTE bands. When I was researching, people mentioned in this thread that Redmi Note 5 (SD636 one) China set has no band 20. Extech explained more about this on the previous page.

Thanks! This is amazingly clear! Yes, I think the processor is the key. The other distinguishing factor between China's Note 5 and India's Note 5 Pro is single rear camera module for the former and dual rear camera module for the latter. Hence Singapore's Note 5 = India' Note 5 Pro cos the two have the dual rear camera module.

The price is better and it comes with bigger battery/RAM/Storage, headphone jack and SD card. A2 only win in camera. Now thinking of pulling the gun but the price went up liao lols- SGD 266.39. Because I have lazada $50 voucher no min spend, hoping to hoot during 11.11sale 64/4 at $200 before voucher offset

Haiz disappointed, no $200 pricing on Lazada:( Cheapest is Univercell at 213. Just a few days ago Grab2buy was having flash sale for 215:(
