Hmmm.... u refering ZTE, Huawei? But their phone is expensive. I also using Redmi, no complain of it, just that it is not compatible to Smartwatch2. :(

You mean Sony Smartwatch 2 right? I been using the Redmi and now the Note with the Smartwatch 2, seems to work fine for notifications. What problems are you having?

They got low range phones lately but good spec too. Got small brands too like ZOPO and many others their spec and build better than XM just that their advertising not as much so not as popular. I am alway in China so afew days I will walk in their market so get to see and a play alot of phones. Only MI3 the spec is better comparing to other brands of similar pricing but the not the other models.

Agreed. There are lots of better built with better spec phones from smaller manufacturers out there.

However i think people are more concerned over the continuous support of the phone or the reliability of the software, which have always been the issue with china branded phones for the past few years.

Xiaomi, could be thanks to their marketing, have gathered quite a huge fan base, with the use of a popular MIUI OS, makes it feel like its supported by the community better than those smaller brands. Morever, there is a service center for Xiaomi phones in SG, people feel more assured to make the decision and purchase one especially at that low price.

Buying from other brands like ZOPO or Vivo, theres still a level of uncertainty involved and its still not necessarily that cheap that people will just throw down their money to make a quick purchase.

That being said though, the Note build quality isn't bad, its made out of plastic but definitely NOT cheap bad quality plastic, its also built very well, no creaking or flexing nor does it feel overly light or heavy.

PS: Everyone should check out the Vivo Xshot: OIS Camera, built in Audio Chip for Hifi Audio, Snapdragon 800, 3GB ram etc. One of the best if not the best specced phone right now. :D

Am using Samsung Note2 now. Not a heavy user. Mostly wechat, FB, photo taking, watching downloaded drama and of course, browsing. In fact, I didn't even touch the pen at all since getting this Note2.

Am thinking of getting the Redmi Note. Based on my usage, will I be missing anything from my Note 2?

In fact, given that my Note2 is still serving me well, I mau even wait till 3-4 months after its been sold here then buy it.

Successfully paired redmi with sw2, but the notification is not appearing on the watch. Others also confirmed the problem too.

you will miss
- LTE
- storage capacity [redmi note only 8GB]
- NFC
- android kitkat [though maybe redmi note will eventually have kitkat]

Thanks.

If those are the only stuff that I'll miss, then is no worry. Of the list, only lack of NFC inconvenience me a bit. But as I only use it to check my NFP balance, nor much trouble. It does come with a SD card slot right? Then storage also no issue. Though my Note2 comes with LTE, mine is permanently on 3G mode as using prepaid card, so no issue here too.

Looks like a cheap cheap upgrade for me. :)

note: redmi note has a current bug; photos can't be saved to sd card by default

Same as you, I also similar usage as you and never touch the stylus at all. Although this phone is LTE but I am not converting to LTE, thus this Note2 seems under-usage under my care.

Without looking and testing it how to know if its original or fake :s13:

i play with the note, seems very "poor" build... just checking if anyone can confirm... didn't have the time to check if its CN firmware or SG.

Ah, i think i know the problem, did you do the Backup trick?

Hmmm, how do you see the redmi note as a upgrade?

Even minus the stylus, os version or NFC, seems more like a sidegrade than an upgrade honestly.

Performance wise wouldn't be much of a difference and i think the note 2 is better in this aspect.

The camera though 13MP and 5MP, isn't great and in some cases i think the note 2 back camera is better.

Unless of course the dual sim is very important to you.

I came from a Note 2 also, unfortunately the MB failed and i am forced to wait until i can recontract so the Redmi note is the best value i can find. I wouldn't say its better than the note 2 though

I'm currently still using Note1, how much would Redmi Note be of an improvement over Note1?

It has a faster processor and GPU, larger display, more RAM, higher resolution camera, bigger battery, dual sim, etc. So a pretty nice improvement if you ask me.
