Redmi Note can only transfer files with the provide USB cable?

I tried other USB cable, it can charge & detect the phone but I can't see or access the files inside.

Anyone can confirm?

Charge 8 hrs for first charge?

Hello everyone!

I have not yet received my RedMi Note.
Should I do a 8hrs first charge once I received my phone?

Anyone bought matte screen protector but actually is clear one ? Even though the packaging indicates matte.

use wireless file transfer via FTP method
it's a built in function by xiaomi :s12:

exactly how much difference is the performance of the 1.4 ghz export set unit and the 1.7 ghz local retail unit?

has anyone tried both?

Haven't tried but I wouldn't reccomend it just based on the RAM alone. MIUI quite heavy on resources

Here's my take.. because miui is based on the older jellybean. 1gb models.. tend to suffer, especially when multitasking.

So always go for the 2gb models. :s12:

@rockerking, you can see from what others have replied

Just to provide a comprehensive piece of information:

Turn on the start server button in Explorer app, type the URL on My Computer address bar, although it works on any web browser, but My Computer provides the additional functionality of transferring files FROM computer TO phone which is missing in web browser way one.

From there you are free to go! You can no need to keep the phone screen stay at the FTP URL page, you are able to exit (do not tap stop server).

The catch is you are not able to transfer file with names with other encoding. Not sure about Chinese character, at least what happened to me is that the Korean characters will appear as '?'. But this is a small issue, can use Explorer app to change it. Of course, I am hoping Xiaomi changes to Unicode coding so that all kinds of characters are supported, afterall our ROM are international one.
