no. a 13 MP camera just means the ultimate digital photograph saved has 13 million pixels. the actual physical sensor resolution is another issue. but more importantly, the sensor quality in various lighting conditions is a totally different consideration to the number of pixels a camera captures

an 8 year old DSLR 3MP nikon would outperform any $20 13 MP camera you buy outside today

megapixels refers to the resolution of the photos saved, nothing more. it's not a useful comparison of numbers for quality

I was only saying that in jest :)

I am no expert but some basic knowledge of cameras I do at least have

Of course! |Cramming 13m pixels in a tiny sensor isn't going to do any good

There are those here who equate higher megapixel count to picture quality and hence their raised expectations and disappointments. It'll do them good if you could enlighten them...just as a favour ;) :)

Is nothing to do with pricing. Is the brand image that count. If advertised as nn M pixes. Then it better perform as good. Otherwise there is no different between Xiaomi vs other China brand!

If it does not perform as specification. Use Lemon law to address it. It does not matter how much you actually pay for it.

ask them to go for the sensor size instead of megapixel for low light :). also not forgetting the DSP algorithm.

did anyone find the 13 mp camera over rated ?

it can perform pretty well under bright sunlight but photos taken under dim or inside room condition ish cmi. :(

this happens to all phones, not just xiaomi. Just that redmi note has a worse result among all. Probably Nokia lumias are the only exception. Why not get a digital camera, they are not expensive now.

There is no difference between Xiaomi and other China brands. I guess its their marketing that works thus facilitating yr believe that Xiaomi is different.

With proper marketing, a retina screen phone is worth more than its competitors. But is that really true?

Please be realistic for a $199 5.5 quad core phone.

Correction. Octa - core. 8x chips. Not quad-core 4x

Guys, y'all dont have to rush honestly. Just got my Redmi Note this evening at Tampines 1 Singtel Shop. $214 with $15 prepaid bundle.

$199 + $15 = $214. Still cheaper than those trying to sell for $40-$50 profit anyway

WHere the tint? Sorry i dint follow this thread closely. I work on device 5" to 12.1" during my work and do see yellowish across the whole lcd which is normal. But if u see spot of yellow den its abnormal.

I work w Sharp , AUO , Panasonic etc and quite common due to manufacturing of the panel itself, pp complain abt it since the SonyEricsson T610 days when the 1st colour screen came out

Is the tinted screen covered by warranty? Maybe send it to the service center? Less than a month phone having this problem is not quite acceptable....
