well, can explore buying a firetv stick 4k and connect to xiaomi 4k tv.

i bought my ftv stick 4k during promo at usd19.9. connect to the hdmi port and powered by the tv's usb port. my netflix runs in 4k on my xiaomi tv

Yes Amazon FireTV Stick 4K will actually be a very good solution to add Netflix 4K capability to Android TV OS based Mi TV. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos under Netflix, better than Mi Box S in this aspect.

Cheaper than Mi Box S as well.

Biggest problem is FireTV has no port for external harddisk or USB hub or external wired internet. Move it to a old non-smart TV cannot use harddisk. FireTV second gen is cheaper but no HDR. 3rd Gen has HDR but costlier than Mibox. There is no YouTube support for FireTV

I’m confused. Are we saying the global Russia set running A55 have vp9 decoder for YouTube but still can’t run native 4k Netflix?

@raputre, can you try native Netflix on android (without mibox) and see if 4k appear?

One a side note I check my DRM level is 1. Shouldn’t that allow any HD content?

Try this, the website said it is targeted for Android 9.0. the version 3104 and 3109 have claimed to work..but it was for A53 chip as in India's 4X 55"

Understand many codings for A53 does not work in A55 & A57. The Russian sets come with A55 chip where as the one from Spain come with A53 for similar Global TV unit. Try and let us know..

Both from Russia should have the same model number ending with 5ARU..if so, RaptureM3, yours must have some problem.. try to get seller to settle it as quickly as possible before warranty run out...something must be missing..

The apkmirror I’m having the error 13 thingy as well. The other 2 - first installation then load up will hang and reboot. Relaunch and login no issue thereafter. Not sure subsequent login will hang anot, uninstall straight away when I saw there isn’t 1080.

But I got my Mi Box S at S$61 during 11.11 Lazada sale (S$70 offer price- S$3Shop voucher - S$6first time but voucher), which is no much worse than the Wal-Mart offer because you need to pay for shipment from US in that case.

Yup, same as mine. Hang and reboot immediately i deleted so can't comment whether subsequent will be ok or not. Prefer a clean install though so won't mess with those. No 1080p also abit pointless.

Will use my Mi Box S for now, TV works fine though so it's ok.

Think it is quite normal for the APK to cause a reboot on first start up running modded version. I too have this kind of experience.

If one is looking for picture quality better than 854x480p, then better spend to get a Mibox or equivalent. Personally, I found the picture quality of 854x480p acceptable as it is already better than HD which is 720x480p. This is much better than the old TV I have have for many years.

I have a mibox. Like many others, very keen to watch 4K. Downgraded to HD and now totally stopped watching because YouTube movies are free. I moved my Mibox to the old antique Hitachi TV

The following is using a dual boot Linux Kodi distribution CoreElec to get Netflix FHD1080p for some Android based TV boxes, I think this will not work for Mi TV, no matter it is the Patchwall OS or the official Android TV OS.

U r right. 480p is SD. 850x480p is higher range of SD. Found the quality acceptable

Just bought a MITV 4S 43inch, not familiar with the interface and how come the googleplay store don't have much app? (Example, can't find chrome).

I tried to download chrome from computer and transfer it by USB drive. But the TV not able to detect the APK.

Another question, how can the TV access the network share folder? i can't this setting as well.

I attached the video for information.. the presenter said and showed to us at 3:36 that the Fire TV does not have external port when he compared it with Mibox S.

Someone has found a fix with a special cable for thumb drive but some reported that it does not work.. not sure if that is recommended. Also, anyone test that it can use external Ethernet adaptor as in a USB hub?

There was no mention about it can hook a 4TB hard disk, think only Fire TV Recast can (another product upto 1TB). Heard MiBox can hook up a 8TB hard disk. Someone will say FireTV can, using network drives

Again for Youtube, many websites said FireTV does not support YouTube. Found that it was because there was a restriction between Google and Amazon before. Youtube can now be screened from July 2019. Some are still having problem just days ago..users were told to get Google/Youtube's help as it is a third party apps. is it supported and fully resolved?

I think i have narrowed down the problem. Can't seem to get the Mi TV to reach 4k 60hz. I plugged in my PC to the TV, same issue, 4k @ 30hz, thus also no 4k on Netflix running on PC. When i plug in my PC, highest setting in Nvidia control panel also 4k 30hz.

Here comes the fun part.

When my pc hook up to mi tv alone, Netflix can see 4k.
But when I hook up to mi tv and another 2 monitor.... I put Netflix on mi tv, the 4k disappeared....

Bro any special setting when you connect your PC to the Mi TV? I connected my PC to Mi TV only shows HD resolution either through EDGE or Netflix app on Windows store. Weird.
