Sorry what does side load apk means?

The android tv setting is damn bare minimal. I can only set backlight level and standard, vivid setting all...

Android os with patchwall unable to go online.

I recalled you mentioned that to reduce brightness and contrast for mi tv. But I don’t have mi box s and the patchwall is not working - the android os have no such option. Are there any way I can change the brightness etc?

Here comes the fun part.

When my pc hook up to mi tv alone, Netflix can see 4k.
But when I hook up to mi tv and another 2 monitor.... I put Netflix on mi tv, the 4k disappeared....

It is the backlight to change.. set to 50 to 75

@raputre, can you try native Netflix on android (without mibox) and see if 4k appear?

Only Amlogic S905x/S905X2, S905Y2, 922X, S905D , S912 have VP9 decoders. The other Amlogic, like T966, T968,T962,T950, T920L used in many MiTV does not have VP9. That is why I was wondering how Global MiTV can play VP9 videos unless the new MiTV chip A55 has S905X3 with VP9 built-in.

No need to try. The Russia 4S L43(L55)M5-5ARU version is not Netflix certified so no Netflix HD, let alone 4K.

Only the Western Europe version of 4S 4K version like L43M5-5ASP and L55M5-5ASP has Netflix 4K.

Ah okay I see. Quite annoyed that Netflix 4k can’t be pushed from the pc if I have 3 screens where 2 of them are not 4k.

So I’m left with:
- Watch 4k through pc but disable 2 monitor.
- sideload apk for 1080p.
- mibox s

Sigh. Any other options? Kodi?

Your three solutions are good and no need to mess with other options already. I think you can try the second option to sideload apk and see if you get 1080p. If yes I think you should be fine already with 1080p. Then you compare with the first option to are if you really see much differences between 1080p and 4k.

I tend to think it is not necessary to buy Mi Box S if you have the Android TV OS version of Mi TV. Not really worth it.

On the other hand, Mi Box S is highly recommended for people who have China version of Mi TV.

I believe Kodi on non-certified device will only help you achieve 1080p at best.

Let me try and figure out if it’s HDCP crippling the 4k when all monitors are on....

you will be able to tell the diff between 4k and 1080p if you are sitting at 2-4 feet away from the 43" tv.

but if the normal view distance is 5-8 ft, 1080p is best for you, and it is hard to tell the diff even if the tv is showing 4k.

Cause the tv is in my room hence it’s quite prominent. The other thing is that my previous tv was capable of doing 1080, so the upgrade to mi tv and not able to play 4k but just 1080 seems like a poor decision for upgrade. Then it raise the question - what’s the point for the upgrade...

Multi monitor doesn’t work even though all are HDCP compliant. Apparently you need ALL your screen to be 4k. Just. Wtf.

Back to 1080 for 3 screen or 4k for single screen I Guess..

well, can explore buying a firetv stick 4k and connect to xiaomi 4k tv.

i bought my ftv stick 4k during promo at usd19.9. connect to the hdmi port and powered by the tv's usb port. my netflix runs in 4k on my xiaomi tv

not too expensive alternative

Since you have gone thro' so many Netflix, for the benefit of the other users, why don't you share which version and where you DL that apk that have been found to be working on the Russian sets?

Not for Netflix. You need Google Widevine Level 1 DRM and blessings from Netflix.

For new device, Netflix even requires your remote to have a dedicated Netflix button (check out Mi Box S and Nvidia Shield TV 2019).

Chinese TV boxes like Mecool KM9 Pro and KM3 are certified by Google and have Google Widevine DRM Level 1, but again not Netflix HD due to the lack of Netflix certification.

Funny that someone tested these 2 files said they were not working for the Russian set.. I know one of them from skyjuice (netflixlatest.ultrahd.apk) and the other from Tech Singh
(Netflix for Mi Tv.apk). might be their TV having problem..

Wait for sometime, someone will sure come up with a modded firmware for these TV sets.
