Update posted by Xiaomi on Facebook today:

Update on #PayPal27Mar issue -

Dear Mi Fans, as of this afternoon, PayPal is still investigating and fixing the issues for transactions that happened yesterday during our Redmi sale.

We have a large number of customers who have paid, and have not had their payment status updated on our website. This can only be verified once PayPal provides us with the payment information.

Orders paid successfully yesterday will not be cancelled, and will be confirmed by our system once we get the verification data.

Customers with multiple transactions for the same order have already been identified and the appropriate process for refund will take place once orders are confirmed and place.

For users with multiple orders, please proceed to complete your payment once. We have extended our 24-hour deadline for payment. If no payment is made, orders may get cancelled. This is only applicable for customers with multiple orders placed that have not been paid.

We will make an announcement once PayPal is able to provide us with payment information to update our payment orders, and also on the expected delivery date.

We are working very closely with PayPal to ensure that this issue is being resolved in the quickest time possible.

We thank you for your understanding, and will provide another update on the situation soon.

My situation yesterday was:

1) I placed 2 orders for Redmi - one per order
2) I received email from Paypal confirming payment of one order only.
3) I checked PayPal website, and it was indicated only one order was paid.
4) Xiaomi order status showed both orders awaiting payment (Paypal issue).

After reading Xiaomi's latest announcement, I did the following:

a) Paid for the 2nd order via PayPal.
b) Received email from Paypal confirming payment of the 2nd order
c) Checked PayPal website, and it is indicated that both orders have been paid
d) Xiaomi order status still shows 2nd order as paid, and 1st order still awaiting payment.

From my interpretation of Xiaomi's 2nd announcement, specially on multiple orders, I believe what I have done (as above) is correct. According to PayPal's records, I have paid both orders.

Correct?

Is Paypal problem. There is a official notice by Paypal mentioning abt this error. Affected not only Xiaomi but also other merchants using Paypal too.

Already more then 24 hours. My status is still "awaiting for payment". Should have go M1 and do cash and carry.

But if you have already received an email from PayPal confirming that you have paid for the order (you can confirm by going into PayPal website to verify that your account has been charged), then you don't need to do anything about the "waiting for payment" status on Xiaomi website.

How do they match your order? I checked at paypal, is has no order # in the statement. Paypal account name does not necessary the same account name as in Xiaomi website too.

PayPal's invoice id - as reflected in their email confirmation, as well as on their transaction, captures Xiaomi's order reference.

Question is how long they need to have these order sort out before chipping the phone to customer?

Thanks for the information. I queried my seller and was advised to bring it back to the shop for a check. I suspect they reflashed the ROM as I was unable to do any update for the ROM at all, even using the official ROM updater app. I was returned by "partition does not match..." error upon updating.

Anyway, I have managed to purchase the SG version of the Redmi yesterday, but still waiting for them to resolve the payment issue.

Check out my thread later for fake redmi identification. The so called export set is actually fake set. You can send back for refund if you can prove it, check out my post later. I cannot post yet due to 50 posts restriction.

What i did is make the payment again, though the payment was successful as shown in Xiaomi's website, but I did not receive any email from paypal. When i made the payment again, i got the email. I still send a PM to Xiaomi SG facebook to confirm with them I'm not double charged.

There is already a Redmi dedicated thread.

What I meant is a dedicated/standalone Xiaomi User Group under
Mobile Communication Technology similar to LG, Samsung, Sony, etc... User Groups

Not the same. Some people mentioned there are fakes among the so-called "export" models too.

It is not fakes. Basically is the same phone with different version od OS. Those without Google Play store is likely to be set sold in China.

Whether it's fake or not, please download CPU-Z or "鲁大师" to verify the spec first.
