Is the Redmi Note 2 good?

So far 50:50 from all the reviews. Some say battery last longer, some say only can tahan for 3 hrs or less. Some say not heat up at all, some say the thermal is overheat

Hi,

Would like to share an incident when I was in Taiwan months back, I purchased a traveller SIM card from Operator "A" to insert to my Redmi2 which couldn't work despite reset and checked the settings till the staff refund me the money.

After which, I was at Operator "B" and tried my luck which my Redmi2 was connected swiftly online.

Now I am holding a Mi4i and I was wondering how and where shall I check if the phone is compatible to the local SIM to avoid the panic situation, I am aware of there's chart of "Band" to check such connectivity.

I also read that Redmi2 do having connectivity problem when using traveller sim cards outside Singapore.

thanks

AFAIK, taiwan handphone network is similar to singapore; also, both redmi2 & mi4i are sold by xiaomi taiwan

so shouldn't have any problems

without further info regarding your previous issue with redmi 2, difficult to be sure, but am wondering if it could have been an APN issue

A couple of things you can check.

Redmi 2 operates on 2.4GHz Wifi band, so make sure there are no radio interferences, and that you did not change any settings in the Wifi router that affects 2.4GHz band. All your other devices may be using 5GHz band.

Secondly how did you notice there is a few seconds of disconnect? Were you using particular apps in the background?

Noob questions....please bear with me? :o

Planning to get one of the Xiaomi phones for my mum, 'cos it seems very cheap for a brand new smartphone.

She'll probably just be texting & maybe surfing Facebook.

Which model should I get for her? Do I just buy it online?
