Xiaomi's Routers!

I recently got myself a xiaomi router pro. But when i connect a rj45 cable to the ethernet port of the router, wifi is connected but internet is unavailable. No connection error for sure as previous router from singtel was setup this way too.
When i link a lan cable from singtel router to xiaomi router's ethernet port, connection and internet is available with xiaomi router.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Tried Firmware update and router factory reset.
Please help me thanks alot.

Singtel use VLAN. It requires specific type of router and not any router from the market. If you are on newer Singtel ONR type configuration, then you need router that can be config to AP mode.

Replaced my Asus Ac56U with Xiaomi r3p. Ever my 4 rm master bedroom toilet with all door closed, can reach 100Mbps on my M1 200Mbps plan.
Super happy about it and paid less than $120.
One problem, my mi box was suffering from low speed either on 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
It was less than 1mpbs for both frequency. It was not too bad when it was on Asus ac56u.

Anyone has any idea to resolve it? Other devices, the performance was superb.

If need to pay $120 for Xiaomi, I would go for ASUS AC1200+ anytime.

one easy way to 'solve' your problem is to keep the singtel router and connect mi router to singtel router and disable mi router's routing function, i.e function as a switch + AP.

the original router should be able to do lan speeds of up to 1gbps. The issue with this setup is u lose out on extra functionality of your new routers. But just using it as an AP should be fine.

You will need to download the MiWifi app and see those functions there works or not as AP.

The Singtel router is just a basic router
The xiaomi router pro have more advance features.

Cuz the xiaomi router no vlan tagging function. No choice need another device infront of it to do the vlan tagging ****

i used to be a loyal supporter of asus routers, since their rt-n16, the router that propel them to stratosphere. Ever since then, their routers have been getting increasingly expensive and error prone.

I have switched over to Xiaomi r3p with no regrets

i would have switched to a r3p if i knew it existed before i got an ac 55uhp. the asus does serve me well and even supports openvpn though.

i think xiaomi routers are better used as a low cost AP or repeater imo

No, those that are going for about 100 bucks don't come with hard disk. You need to get a portable one instead to plug into the USB port just like any other routers.

Xiaomi controls using Mi Account. I believe you can use different Mi Account for Mi Router and Yi IP Camera.

This is the stupid part.

Even for those of us who got the Mi Router, we need to still put a microSD card in the Yi IP Camera in order for it to record video to the harddisk on the Mi Router.

You can only see the option to save video to Mi Router when you have microSD card inserted into the Yi IP Camera. I tested and confirm this liao.

bro, can check with you do the yi ip camera alert you for any pre set setting? or will it only record when the setting is met?
