Quite hard to justify the cost for short os update support
Agree, they need to provide longer OS or security updates. Even if they provide only 2 OS updates, at least provide 3-4 years of security updates. Samsung is already offering 3-4 years for their mid-rangers and Google is offering 5 years of security updates for Pixel 6a, a mid-ranger

Security is even more important now since a lot of important apps are in the phone, Singpass, banking apps, telco apps, etc. Hackers are also becoming even more intelligent (see how they can impersonate those organizations SMSes). It is not like 10 years ago where you can still get by with an old Android phone with outdated security as long as you don't visit shady sites or download shady apps.

Seriously Sony marketing is quite bad and lack of carrier support, overshadowed by Samsung and Apple event, not much media hype too. General public don't even know there is a new Sony Xperia that was just announced.

The first thing to do is to have telcos selling their products. No point to market anything new when most consumers cannot buy it while they recontract for new phone plans.
I think what is worse is to show different colours for a new product when you are just going to sell only a single colour for it.

Issue is telco won't do it cuz Sony isn't popular just like Nokia.
If they carry they will make a loss which is why they won't do it.
For those who want to buy it like myself, is to flip a Sammy phone to fund for it.

Yeah, no choice. I used to flip ifone but buying last year's phone with deep discount helped with my old cheap sim only plan. Haha

Sony phones are always reliable, I am using it in conjunction with iPhone

To me, it is either Sony or iPhone. No Sammy lol

Pixel is tempting but the hardware issues is a turn off

Battery swelling is common. My sony a6400 battery swelled also after 2yrs of non usage. And so does my MacBook and dell laptop.
