Battery swelling is common. My sony a6400 battery swelled also after 2yrs of non usage. And so does my MacBook and dell laptop.
But the article stated swelling at a disproportionately high rate . Meaning something we need to take notice. Safety concern.

My past phones from brands ranging from fruit to nokia to sammy (before note 7) to sony to xiaomi to (forget which brands) never had battery swelling. I guess it is not common to me.

Still, it is a very concerning topic in terms of safety as toader mentioned.

https://www.sony.com.sg/smartphones/products/xperia-5-ivWe get just black, $1599...

Whereas Japan gets blue and purple as exclusive colours. Plus the already announced green and white

But I guess you can hardly complain. There are people in other countries like Australia and Canada who have to work harder to parallel import.

Sony is not putting effort in this local market due to legion of fans from the fruit and sam brands, and now chinese brands for the budget products. They probably do not even pay well for advertisements or viral marketing efforts to diss competitions. Cannot blame them for only focusing on profitable business in their gaming and TV segments, if any decent company or organization needs revenue to maintain and pay their workers.

Oh boy.... Even diehard fans need to think thrice with such a price. The free gifts are simply not enticing enough. Considering the downgrade of the camera system and the display compared to 1IV, I was hoping for something below 1.3k.

The camera is actually very comparable with xperia 1IV.

Review stated its more stable than xperia 1IV because it has a graphite sheet inside whereas none for the xperia 1IV.
