Don't mind me saying. Rich and poor are relative. Rich people existed only because there are poor people, vice versa. If there are no poor people, they will not be rich people.

So, if you are aiming so low just for self sufficiency, it only takes few people to strive harder and invest harder for them to overtake you. The amount of money you have is still the same. They just make more money for themselves and that's all it takes for them to make you below average or poor.

I would suggest to still work harder and invest harder. At least make yourself above average.
