Your gains from iwda more than offset your losses from es3?

I dont have iwda, only ES3 and some Asia unit trust. My networth is up mainly due to salary savings. Without including salary savings I am still down 3.87%. With almost 50% allocation to equities, the equity part is down double of that.

I see
I suspect I'm still down due to my es3 even though my iwda is in the green. I only mark every 6 months since this year so I'll find out end of this month. I used to do monthly but decided to do semi annual instead

Just one week of June made such a big change. My networth is back to same level as the beginning of the year :)

Just recalculated my portfolio values and it is close to the June 1st week values. Still 2 more days remaining for the month, I hope there wont be much damage in those 2 days.

Half of 2020 is over and comparing with what happened in March, we should be pretty happy that middle of the year we have recouped some losses. If rest of the year we just stay around these level, would be great. Dont have much expectations for 2020. Just work hard and accumulate salary savings.

I did some more calculations. On YTD basis my investment is still down 51k and on a 3 year basis down 37k.

I need STI to go up by 15% to get back into black from 3 year basis and 20% up to get back into black on ytd basis.

I am guessing it will take end of 2021 for STI to go back above 3000.

That's a bit tough because the STI is not very dynamic.

You need to consider the dividends too...

I'm also counting on STI going back to 3,000 within 2 years. Don't think its a difficult target =:p

For sti to return to 3k, the banks have to return to pre-c19 $26/$11?

Banks earnings won't be poor contrary to what many think. Most of them have huge provisions in the last quarter to cushion against defaults. Their operating earnings are good or even better than pre covid.

We will probably have a strong year in equities similar to 2017, maybe it will come in 2021 or 22 or 23. So within next 3 years, we should have a major rally where Asian markets that been laggards will be up like 30-40%, maybe Singapore wont jump so much but it will also participate. So we need to have an allocation for a such a year.

41% equities and 59% fixed income.

But the fixed income I have completely remitted to India and it is in INR Fixed deposits and bonds that yield 7%, but INR can depreciate, but it is okay for me.

The 41% equities:
Half of it is in ES3 ETF, other half is split between Asia unit trust and India equities funds.

Perhaps should rethink strategy?

Finally update my position for 1H2020

Investment losses in sgx counters offset by salary/bonus and gains in IWDA. Despite Covid-19, NW increased by 2.2% over 6 months and 5.4% over past 12 months.

It's much better than I expected.

Still 30% away from my retirement target to be achieved over 10 years.

Once economy recovers, i expect your nw will shoot up, perhaps to your retirement target. :s13:

One thing that I'm pleased is that I reduced my cash holding from 35% to 25% in 6 months through adhering to my place to Dca more aggressively, especially into iwda
