1.5m SGD is not a lot to you. But..

The authority in wealth measurement, UBS Global Wealth says Singapore USD millionaire cutoff is approximately 6.7% of adults.

Knight Frank Wealth Report cutoff for top 1% is 5.23m USD.

Sounds reasonable to me. Lol!

1.5m is not a lot, it depend on how you see it. Its not enough for me to retire early so its not a lot, I need more.

I am deploying everything so even a 10% gain is substantial for me
Same, I also everything in.

I have mostly deployed everything except I have a large chunk of CPF which I have not touched. I guess that forms the bulk of my warchest since I can now buy Amundi unit trusts with CPFIS if there is a major crash this year....

We have had a good 3-4 years bull run. If u all are all in, how would u all feel if market crash now? Not sure how long the bull can run. Should at least take some profit now, especially those close FIRE or retirement?

Just sharing my thoughts.

I've held a small amount of D05 for a long time. I started adding more D05 regularly in early 2024 after Piyush Gupta made the 1 to 10 share bonus share announcement. Since then I've added D05 as and when funds allowed, even during the yen carry trade unwind in Aug 24 and D05 went into the red for me. Continued to accumulate throughout 2025.

Right now there is a substantial paper profit. I'm tempted to sell and lock in the profits. However I placed a big reminder in my spreadsheet that the portfolio's primary purpose is passive income for my retirement. It's not for capital gain.

Long story short: I will keep my D05 holdings as the passive income is what I need for a comfortable retirement.

But u reaching your hard stop to retire at 50 yo soon right? Probability that global markets will rise more than 10% percent again in 2026 is getting lower as already bull run past few years.

But taking partial profit now could be worth many years of passive income too

My hard stop has been 55 but I'm open to early departure from my industry before that. I'll be 50 soon anyway

Yes, but personally I don't need to liquidate. I can simply add more cash holdings by choosing to stop DCA into D05, or by keeping the dividends instead of reinvesting them. Or both. But I don't like to let the $ idle away while I work my day job.

Certainly I've thought about selling and moving the funds into other counters. But I can't find a better SGX counter to invest in, for passive income. I'm not interested in the US market. Just to illustrate why: on Sep 10 2025 D05 had a substantial jump from around $50 to $52, about 4%. There was a fellow on Reddit who pointed out that Oracle Corp had a much bigger price jump the last night, about 36%. Since then Oracle has fallen substantially while D05 has continued to trend up.

US stocks are no good for dividends. If buying US stocks it's for capital gains. And this kind of violent price movements are too much for me.

At the same time I believe D05 has good management, and seemingly it has hungry staff. It has also rewarded shareholders very fairly. So I will let this winner run, at least until their financial reports gives me cause for concern.

If crash then borrow money at low interest and buy more. In general I don't try to time the market. I don't invest in the market but individual companies so as long as the companies are doing ok then market up or down doesn't affect me. I only sell my stocks when I think the companies are not going to do well in future.

S$1.5mil is still far below what's needed to be in the top 1% in Spore.
I have learned something new - I always thought there were so many crazy rich Asians on this island that I was under some kind of "poverty curse". Now I realise I might already be in the top 10% :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

How do you realise you are top 10% and how does it change your life or how you perceive money
