URGENT

Hi all,
I am using 6Gb plan and currently in Turkey. I am not able to receive any sms (No Service), earlier when I posted query - ppl told me Zero1 users receive SMS, please advice!

FROM FAQ:

Can I still make calls or send SMS if I am not connected to a preferred network due to Data Roam Network Lock?

Yes, you can as roaming calls and SMS do not require data. Data Roam Network Lock only restricts data usage on a non-preferred network or in destinations that are not covered under your existing Data Roam plan.
Note: Roaming charges apply for outgoing SMS or voice calls outside of Singapore.

As mentioned above, if can send SMS it also means one is allow to receive, at least in theory. Can you check if able to connect to ANY local network at all?

Try to reboot your phone to connect to either of the 3 telcos in Turkey.
AVEA
Turkcell
Vodafone Telekomunikasyon

If still cannot work you can try to toggle on data roaming on your phone settings. This is just to trigger the connection to connect to a partner telco. There should not be any data roaming charges if you are worried as there is no pay as you use for data roaming service.

Also, double check that International Roaming Voice & SMS service is activated in your Zero1 account. I assume you’re a local, as foreigners are excluded from Roaming Voice and SMS services.

In your Zero1 account, do you have International Roaming Voice & SMS service activated? See the 3rd service in the screenshot I shared (click on the button Spoiler: Value Added Services).

If International Roaming Voice & SMS service is not activated, then I don’t think you’ll be able to receive SMS when overseas. If it is not activated (be it because non local or other reason), I suggest you to reach out to Zero1 via Facebook PM, submitting a ticket or email yes@zero1.sg.

The first link I shared is to show you the 3 partner telcos which you can connect to, and also on the rightmost column you will see that receiving SMS in any country is always free.

International Roaming Voice & SMS

Added to plan on 27/09/2022

This wasn't added - I just added now, lets see how long they will take. Thank you for all your inputs.

singtel is the king for 5G now which is no doubt. i hope zym will have 5G soon. the rollover of data feature for zym is better than any MVNOs.
Yup, and first mover advantage. Though 5G’s touted claim of “higher bandwidth” remains to be seen - whether telcos’ 5G infrastructure can sustain bandwidth given the same saturation of 4G users, in time to come. E.g, peak hour train rides.

Slight OT from Zero1, how’s ZYM? Same on SingTel as Zero1, but in terms of throttling, speed, etc?

There is a Zym thread and some users also gave feedback about throttling.

Honestly I think throttling/network prioritisation is bound to happen during peak period/crowded places and pretty much unavoidable. Probably Singtel direct customers will have the least throttling.

Personally having used GOMO and Zero1 both have about the same throttling. Heya is reportedly the worse, being tiered below the Singtel MVNOs, which you can also read in the Heya thread.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/new-heya-sg.6741719/
Alternatively the other option is going for 5G as there will be likely greater bandwidth to support more users during peak period/crowded places. Also the adoption is relatively low now as 5G NSA was just introduced recently to Singtel MVNOs.

Can
It just continues on and on even until you stopped their service :s22:
This is a security breach on them
I think when there’s likely to be recurring online payment like for telcos, the system will be set up in such a way so that customers can’t easily remove credit card if not the company will face a lot of outstanding bills. GOMO also cannot remove credit card details, can only overwrite and need to have minimum 1 active.

One method you can use is to sign up for a debit card and then lock the card perpetually. When your card is locked there is no way for deduction even if the card details is compromised. Use this card to overwrite any service which you have left. Alternatively there’s also prepaid credit cards.

Can sign up for virtual credit cards. Example Wise.com. They have "Digital cards" that can freeze/delete anytime you like.

I survived an entire work-week in camp at that speed even though I'm not even through my quota because of subscriber prioritisation under ST's network. So it is still fine for most tasks, just not watching video 720p or higher with great loading speed.

Yours is also around 1Mbps (~120+KB/s) max? That's what I found when testing at home. In camp, I got throttled down to 70+KB/s.
