Other telco only need to wait few hours for number porting. Signed new plan at telco shop in afternoon, same night 11 pm porting already completed. Also no temporary number nonsense.
Your other telco have big clientele, high chance that many people lost their sim card,it isn't unusual they stock up blank sim card and they only need to link the number to the blank sim.

If you port using prepaid there is such nonsense temporary number also.

I understand your reply.

But for me and other customers who have enough data allowance on our old Telco mobile plan which we are currently still paying for, we do not need the Zero1 SIM to just use Zero1's data bandwidth if it cannot port over our mobile number.

Thus, even though the Zero1 line is active but we cannot use it to make/receive our mobile number's calls and sms (which is the most basic use of a mobile phone) because Zero1 is still having problems porting the customers' mobile numbers, then it is only right for Zero1 not to charge customers who are not using the Zero1 SIM card due to its own number porting problems.

I think they charge once activated, coz the line is active. You can actually use the SIM card liao, except that the number is not your intended number. Currently while waiting, and make full use of the active SIM by putting in a dual SIM card to use for data. Not ideal situation though, but at least not total useless while waiting for the porting to be succesful.

1) Then contact Zero1 through a proper channel.

2) Commercial agreemeents ain't criminal in nature upon breach. Your example of tour packages is wrong. Police don't help those who got scammed when the tour packages ain't delivered. You'll definitely get turned away from the police if you even try to file a report on this.

3) Again, the police isn't your watchdog. Just because you've suffered a loss, they shouldn't bear the brunt of your losses. IMDA may be an appropriate party due to their regulatory mandate, but definitely not the police.

Lastly, sprouting nonsense and threatening police action when it's clearly the wrong channel for recourse is definitely not being patient.

I have switched through all the Telcos over the past 10-20 years.

For (1), yes. All M1, SingTel and Starhub charge the monthly bill once we received the SIM card. But our mobile number will be ported immediately over by the next working day. If they have problems delivering their mobile service, we can just call up their customer service hotline to ask for a fee waiver, which is usually approved if the problem lies on the Telco's side.

(2) The commercial agreement we enter with the Telcos of course is legally binding. But if the Telco did not provide the full mobile service which they charge the customers for, that is a "criminal offence" which amounts to "consumer cheating". That's why a lot of customers "short-changed" by rogue travel agencies filed police reports after the travel agencies did not fulfill their travel packages.

Lastly, if you read through the hardwarezone forum postings over the past few days, you will find that many forum members facing delays in the number porting have not been very demanding on Zero1, as many of us have been waiting patiently for many days for our mobile numbers to be ported over.

But if the whole porting process takes up more than 1-2 weeks and we are being charged by Zero1 despite not using the Zero1 sim card (as our mobile number is still with our old Telco), then it is right that the govt regulators such as the IMDA, police, CASE, etc step in to investigate the matter. (Just like SingTel, M1, Starhub always have to answer to the govt regulators whenever their mobile networks, fibre networks, etc breaks down)

Of course, I really hope that Zero1 will be a responsible Telco and not "short-change" their customers by charging them when they are still having difficulties porting their mobile numbers to the Zero1 network.

And as customers, we are still showing much goodwill to Zero1 by waiting patiently for them to sort out their problems. We are not expecting "first class" service here. We are only hoping to be treated fairly.

The process of porting could failed due to some other reasons like you still have outstanding bills etc. In addition, your existing telco needs to approve the portimg request in order for it to be success. Maybe your current telco is dragging the process at their end? We will never know. So if the waiting time for the porting process is long, it is not entirely Zero1's fault. Have the patience to wait ba.

If you are really unhappy about it, you can always request to cancel your $19 plan and have them refund you the $19... I think they are more willing to do so...

Come on, let's not be uncivil and make personal attacks.
You are too defensive of Zero1 and people might think if you are related to Zero1.

This is a public forum where users are open to discuss views and comments.
The problem undisputable now is that Zero1 is definitely having problems porting over some of the customers' mobile numbers.
They should try to resolve its own problems while not penalizing the affected customers.

Nobody is threatening anything.
People are just casually discussing possible courses of remedies and actions
If anyone has committed any wrongdoings or offences, the govt regulators and police will take care of it.

Let's be civil and do not insult other forum users by saying only what you say is correct and things you don't agree is "sprouting nonsense".
A lot of people here are highly educated and can judge for themselves.

I apologise to you if I have offended you in any way.
Come on, Singapore should be a friendly country and thus it is natural that affected customers having problems with their number porting discuss ways to resolve the problem over public forums.

If you are an affected customer, please help contribute your ideas of solving the problem too.

If you are not an affected customer, sincerely hope you can offer constructive and helpful comments rather than the unfriendly comments below.

Thanks for the below comments, as mentioned earlier, for my case, I do not have any outstanding bills, no outstanding contracts, perfectly active M1 mobile line.

M1 only needs 1 working days to port mobile numbers from my past experiences with my family members and my own mobile lines.

So has been patiently waiting for Zero1 to commence the number porting for quite a few days.

As for cancellation of Zero1 line, that will be the last resort.

The first day of billing will start on receiving the Sim card date or the first time of turning on the phone with the new Sim card?

My Singtel fixed number wanted to port over M1 took more than 6 months, and it's still not settled. M1 pushing the blame that Singtel never release the number, so cannot port.
