I bought a Crucial 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4 3200 MHz from Amazon SG to upgrade my Forge 15S (with i7 10750H) which has only 1x8GB DDR 3200Mhz.

But Amazon SG sent out 2x8GB DDR4 2666 Mhz to me.
I'm considering to return the item and get a refund, and also order the DDR4 3200Mhz a second time.

Is there a significant difference between the two?
I read that i7 10750H can only support up to 2933 Mhz, so the difference is between 2933 Mhz and 2666 Mhz ?

Hot Temps

Anyone that has the Forge 15 Elite that tried to undervolt both CPU and GPU? I did mine for both bcs ive been getting extreme temps (90-95) and i wanan prolong my machine's batt life. im a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. i did my research reading countless threads and forums all over the internet and i finally did it and ive been getting -20 degrees on my cpu but my gpu hasnt shown much change.

another thing to note there are times where i bsod randomly but other times it works finem even without any load (sometimes right after boot). any advice?

is there anyone that tried to undervolt their Forge 15 Elite or is there anyone who has experience that can advise me that would be greatly appreciated :)

I am using ryzen master to underclock my forge 15r. Else also easily reach 95 degrees. Aftershock has concluded nothing wrong with system. Already bought what to do? Regret purchase..

Maybe you can try Ryzen controller?

I am using the Apex 15R and I do get a 5-10 degree drop and increase battery life.

However, you are using a desktop Ryzen chip in laptop top form. I think no matter how much you under clock it will still be hot? Maybe you need to invest in an external laptop or a laptop stand to help prop up the laptop.

Hey bro, can check with you what your idle temp for 15R

My CPU and GPU is clocking at 50 and 45 degrees respectively.

Wondering is this normal for 15R series since what I found online the normal temp should be 5 degree lesser, give and take.

my 15R idle temp for CPU and GPU ard 43c and 45c
I am propping it up using 2 short rubber caps, i think it helps with the overall airflow and keeping it few degree cooler.

Does AS laptop still come with a detachable battery ? worthy a consideration b'cos battery will die first after a few yrs.

Left home with my laptop restarting and installing a Windows 10 update. Came home to find black screen after post with no boot device detected. I have two drives. Main is nvme. My Sata ssd is non bootable (I think, can't remember).

Argh.

Windows 10 updates always bit dicey. Suay is tioh problem like what i experienced.

Bios could detect the NVME but just can't boot from it. Boot order system somehow got corrupted by the win10 update.
Opened up the laptop, plug in plug out the m2 drive cannot.
I have my old m2 sata drive that i upgraded from. Managed to boot up with that. Then plug in back my m2 NVME drive, then can boot up with it liao. heng ah...

not sure if future win10 update will have such surprises or not...

Looks like a refresh is coming soon as all AMD laptop models are not listed on Aftershock website.

waiting to see what models aftershock will have by the 2nd half of the year cos right now a lot of the processors arent yet out on the table and the spotlight is still only on the ampere GPUs.

my pascal-era S17 has been running since 2016 already so I was considering an upgrade this year... Eyeing maybe something like the clevo PB71 which I think can support up to 3080, now just remains to see if aftershock will adopt that model or something of that caliber. I know the Vapor exists but it's more of a thin and light design and not a true successor to my S17 IMO.

Owned a Vapor 15X. Even though it is listed as a gaming laptop, you will have to tweak abit with the voltage & clock speed because it will be extremely hot when gaming on it. The highest package temp I am able to reach while testing is 95 degree Celsius.

Further more, their control center is so limited especially when they locked on how much you can control your fan speed, etc.

Fyi, bought a new desktop from them too. They test and configure your pc with their Window OS OEM channel key, and I'm unable to use my old windows activation key to activated it until I clean install Windows Home using the official microsoft iso/installer.

Haha same problem with temperature on my 15r. Bought a powerful machine and then have to underclock it, defeat purpose..Lol
