After the revert and reboot that SH have done, for me everything seems to be fine now. But too early to say haha

Well, today MR sucks! it was down the whole day until I restart the ONT just now. But the connection is so unstable I thought I'm using diap-up. uploading these 2 images--~170KB took nearly 10 minutes!

Its been exactly 4 weeks since the installation in 04 Oct, all I get was disappointment. This MR Hyperspeed is worst the SH 1Gbps or the MR 1Gbps I used in 2016.

Don't bother subscribing to MR 10Gbps if you care about stability, don't terminate your existing line too, have a backup. Can't imagine having no internet in this digital age.

Seems like Starhub was also affected but they kept quiet about it and refused to acknowledge any issue on their part when I called up to complain.

I'm also in the central/east area and I've been getting latency of up to 1000-3000ms and random disconnects on Starhub 10gbps plan starting Friday last week.

Speeds seem better today but still getting socket error when doing speedtest and up to 300ms ping.
That's strange... I would have thought since MR leased their 10Gbps from SH, SH would prioritise their own customers first. My network seems to have stabilised, no more lag.

For 10Gbps broadband in Sg, it seems like some users are stuck between a rock and a hard place (no-win situation) at the moment. You want stability go ST (and maybe SH but not so sure after the latest incident) but with ONR, you have little control over your home network. You want more control over your home network, go to MR with ONT but then stability becomes the problem...

I think MR and SH are new comers in the 10Gbps game, it is better to give them some time to see how it goes.

Hopefully after the trial ends by Dec 2023, they both will have worked out most of the kinks and also upgrade the hardware (ONT) to support 10Gbps Wifi 7.

Now even TP Link launched Qualcomm-powered Wifi 7-capable ONT/ONUs for XGS-PON networking can use either 10G-BaseT RJ45 port or come with SFP+ ports for those who want to go fully-fibre optic.

Wait for VQ to offer their 10G metro ethernet for the general public... :ROFLMAO:

Speaking of which, how is VQ's 10G performing so far?

I thought VQ 10Gps plan kind of failed in the market already and the Metro Ethernet infrasture may be quite a bit more expensive than XGS-PON infrasture.

Not bad. Most important thing is they left everything intact. Stability is not an issue so far and wired speeds as fast or a bit faster than SI. I suspect they switched the former SI 10Gbps customers over to their 10G metro ethernet (point-to-point) being offered on their corporate side. They also have point-to-multipoint which I suspect is XGS-PON. Claim to have 100Gbps core backbone network.

Metro ethernet/Active optical ethernet (point-to-point) is definitely more expensive vs XGS-PON and costs more to scale up. MR 10Gbps monthly subscription is one-third of SI/VQ's.

31/10/2023 19:00 PM : Our vendor will be rebooting all the network node tonight 1/11/2023 at 02:00 AM. There will be a downtime of 30 minutes to our 10G users in Singapore. We apologize for the inconveniences caused.

Finger crossed that tonight reboot can finally resolve all issues.

I guess it's the same for all new tech be it the latest routers or the 'new' XGS-PON. I remember back in the early MaxOnline cable internet days, they also got people to sign up to the trial for a pretty affordable monthly fee ($20-$50?). Same thing when they launched the trial for 5G mobile networks. There'll always be a need for people to test it out for the ISPs/Telcos/networking equipment makers before they can iron out the bugs since there's only so much they can do to test on the backend. If no one's willing to be the guinea pig then those issues will never be resolved. I've also been a beta-tester for some Asus routers these few years including the RT-BE96U by sending feedback to tech support. It's something that those who want to be on the bleeding edge will have to do to make the product or service better in future.

MR 10Gbps is down again, and this time is different than before, I guess MR is trying to keep "surprising" me with their "service".

p.s. Somehow I can't see my spoiler text, is the forum blocking it?

Maybe this has already been shared in this thread but I am reluctant to read 33 pages of comments to find out so, my question is: MR's ONT connects to the supplied router through fiber or copper? If copper is by default, can I choose to use SPF+ fibre?

MR -- using ONT (XGS-PON ONT)
1) Copper: 10G Ethernet
2) Not able to use SFP+.

Singtel and Starhub -- using ONR (XGS-PON ONR), as of now, can not bridge the ONR, not really recommended for power users who want to use their own router.

THanks for the info but that doesn't explain why the issue always happen when I'm using the PC, which usually isn't midnight.

Speaking of which, it was down the whole morning until I restart the ONT. the PoS is no better than a dialup modem, you can only pray and hope it will stay online.
Could it be an ONT issue? Maybe get MR to come and check/replace?

Very likely but MR stated clearly they will charge me service visit if they "think" it wasn't ONT's fault. How am I gonna make the ONT go off line when they visit if the issue is intermittenly?

For over 20 years with Starhub, every installations and service visits, I never had to pay a single cents. I may have to use lemon law or even file to small claims tribunal if this keep going. Trial or not, I'm entitle to a stable service when I'm paying a monthly subscription.

Edited on 232213 2025hrs:
PoS is down again for the pass hour and counting

Edited on 231115 2322hrs
PoS is having a period, down for few minutes, up and running for another few minutes then down again, and repeating the same pattern for the last half an hour.
