If u google search "travel insurance " starr insurance will listed on the top from moneysmart and singsaver website.

I didn't read the reviews until I start to file claim and realised theor reviews are very bad.
Guess they bought the views and reviews. lol
Honestly haven't heard of them before until now..

Hello, I’m new to this travel insurance thing.
I am travelling to Japan with my fam in April 2024.
With the recent earthquake, I’m thinking of buying travel insurance in case my trip has to be cancelled due to earthquakes.
I’m looking at FWD trip cancellation up to 7.5k.
Will that cover/ suffices? Tried reading the fine prints but couldn’t come to a conclusion.
Or does anyone has any good recommendation?
Please and thank you in advance!

Why would any trips be cancelled due to earthquakes if there's no major destruction like volcano erruption and tsunami. Even with the recent earthquake in Japan, flights are still operational. Flights aren't cancelled. So cancel what trip?

You cancel due to your own phobia, cannot claim. Unless there is an official travel advisory saying not to travel to the affected parts.

Thank you for your kind reply! If let’s say the flight is cancelled due to destruction, etc. Not out of my phobia - will FWD suffices?

INCOME 50% usually comes right after their non-50% promo.
Current: 40% + free SIMBA 5GB roaming eSIM to Japan, Korea, or Taiwan.

They run 50% off for 2-3 days on a monthly basis.
Next up: 50% on 23 Jan 2024
hoping for ntuc insurance 50% promo soon

Is ‘Cancel for any reason’ cover a good add on?

Booked airtix this morning for a trip departing Dec 2024, promo fare so it’s non refundable type. However for FWD , can only purchase advance 180-day. But for the above add on must purchase the travel insurance within 7 days of travel payment., which meant I won’t be eligible.

Singlife can buy now but the quote is higher. So not sure if I should get from Singlife with this add on for a peace of mind or just forgo it and wait for FWD,

that's why I only buy FWD and TIQ.

I submitted my medical claim at midnight for FWD, morning I checked, claim approved and money in bank account.

I estimate for Annual Plans, it wld take about 6-7 trips (to the same region), of around 7 days each trip to "breakeven"

u mentioned u have business trips with coverage. take note if u buy Single trip plan, you have to buy starting from the day u depart SG, and not just for the period not covered by Company

travel insurance promo are always ongoing, no need to FOMO

usually Single Trip plans have higher discount (eg SingLife for Mindef GTL customers get 48% off for Single vs just 25%? for Annual)

for working adult with frequent travel, a WW Annual plan of $400 -600 shld be affordable

SingLife Travel plans r worth considering, especially if u r eligible for Mindef GTL n buying single trips
Sorry late reply and many thanks for sharing!

Yes, I did the same and my calculations tallies too!

>> Wah I legit I didn't know! Been doing this for soooo many years; the personal insurance coverage start date, I usually put at the end of my work trip LOL. But luckily nothing happened or need to make any claims! Thanks for this! (FYI, we don't travel as a group or department.. usually travel solo or bring wife/ family along).

> I saw the same pricing at the end of 2023. At this point in time, I am determined to just buy ala carte.. More troublesome have to keep applying though.

Thanks again for your thoughts!

I bought the Asia (including Australia and NZ) annual travel insurance earlier this month for around $188 on FWD.

The premiums for one 10 Days trip to Australia and two 30 days trip to China would be more than what I've paid $188.

I fly every other month to China and each stay ranges from 3 weeks to 30 days. Have one upcoming 10 days trip to Australia.

Yeah without covid cover. I've never gotten covid and I have been travelling since 2021 (during covid).

Recently I have been flying every month. I'm quite worried about the flu though.

I've a referral code that I have been using forever :ROFLMAO:

Which insurers have the most value of money annual plan? Never bought annual plan before but I have these trips lined up
Mar - wife going Bangkok
Mar - self going Indonesia
April - wife and I going Japan
May - wife going Korea
Likely will have 2 more family trips in Jun and Dec school holidays (not planned yet)

Does it make sense to get annual plan?

calculate the premiums for each trip and add them up together and compare with the premium for the annual plan. simple as that.

sompo, last day ... 50% off single trip plan

if u hv SingLife GTL discount for Single trips, then Annual Plan wld not seem worthwhile

Region & duration of trips matters too
