So MR is the only one using ONT? Anyone knows if i have my own asus router will they install for me? The AIMesh i can set up lah, just not very IT savvy so getting my main asus router to work with the ONT will be 🤦🏻‍♂️

Surely its not as simple as unplug their router, plug in my own router & viola without the need to reconfigure anything?

No, MR will only set up their 10G capable router.

Since MR is using ONT, indeed you can just plug your own router and then set up as per normal. You can set up AImesh so there is no issue here.

I see. I mean its not a brand new off the shelf router. Both my AX88 & AX58 are already configured in AIMesh mode with ethernet backhaul. And M1 uses ONT so I don’t even need to change it from router mode to AP.

Just that i thought since change ISP, would involved some complex reconfiguration to work with the new ONT.

i suggest if you are not IT savy, stick to ONR or your existing broadband plans. 10G plans not really for non-IT savvy folks…

Do you watch Pay TV? MR now sold to Starhub so it is just time that MR also follow Starhub use ONR. Your ASUS router is WiFi 5 only so will be slow la.

Better not to spread FUD (Fear, uncertainty and doubt) about MR going to ONR now. Let's wait and see.

My take is that MR will continue using the ONT configuration.

This may mean your bridging is not successful.

You can try connect a PC to the bridged port to see if the PC can get a Public IPv4 address.

I just did this, PC not getting IP, I’m wondering if it could be my IP address lease is still not up, that’s why it’s not assigning any IPs to me…

IPv4 address lease should be very fast. You can always reboot the ONR to see if works or not. If still not working, then for sure your bridging is not correctly done.

I did reboot but still no IP... I change the ONR settings to Bridge, then tunnel and the VLAN ID and PRI just like in Routing mode, then switch the interfaces that I am on to use this tunnel but still cannot... :(
