actually after doing eevrything, now i think

if u sign SH 10gb, and sell the router away .. thats $70 a month - $15 a month (assume u sell for $360) = $55 a month
compared to the $45 per month 5gb plan.
so you paying $10 per month more for 5gbps faster speed + 24months of soccer + 12 months of disneyplus...

Actually not so bad huh....(wasnt thinking earlier)
then complain them to improve speed?

The good thing about the SH 5gb is that u can upgrade anytime if u are happy, so optionality, but 10gb cannot downgrade.
But unless you already have your own 10GbE capable router, selling the router they give you doesn't make sense, no?

I checked with SH CSO and confirmed that we can watch as we are Homehub+ ultra speed and we have sports pass so can watch using Bein Sports Channels. No problem, no extra payment. Since this EURO 24 is priced so expensive so better watch it if got time.

UEFA Euro is not under beIN Sports la

it's under SPOTV in which you will need to subscribe la

can watch copa america if you homehub+ sports :s12:

Yeah I'm just comparing against the 5gb plan which doesn't have a router ,only the ONR

2) I have not received the previous purchase yet. It is at RMB 499.
Previous purchase is probably safer as there was a review on YouTube.

Another review of the IOcrest USB4/TB4 to 10Gbe network adapter, he only tested macOS support (plug and play under macOS).

He also tested a 5Gbe PCI-E network adapter (for desktop), only tested under Windows (need to upgrade driver).

Interesting that the 10Gbe ports of his switch does not support 5Gbps so he has to use a HelloTek SFP+ to 10Gbe module which support 5Gbps.

The performances of all three product seem to be good.

Then he is using R86S-N (N305 CPU) mini PC as the iperf3 server, looks like N305 CPU has no issues to deal with 10Gbps iperf 3.

For what its worth, I got around 9.5gbit/s between an ASUS XG-C100C V2 (Windows) and a QNAP QNA-T310G1T (TB3 - Mac Mini). The QNAP gets fairly hot even under basic load and has an annoying pitch sound from I presume its fan.

I will recommend to go with Option 1. You do need to pay for a 10G switch (which support 1G/2.5G/10G) but then all room LAN ports will be capable of 10G.

1. Option 1: Ethernet Backhaul is fine, no need to shift the ONT.
Nokia XGS-PON ONT in DB Box --patch panel -- living room LAN port 1 -- EB810v main router in living room

EB810v 10G LAN port -- living room LAN port 2 -- patach panel -- 10G switch in DB box -- bedrooms LAN ports (10G capable)

Bedroom LAN port -- another EB810v (10G Ethernet backhaul).

2. Option 2: to relocate the ONT to living room

Nokia XGS-PON ONT in living room -- EB810v main router in living room

EB810v 10G LAN port -- -- living room LAN port 1 -- patch panel in DB box -- one bedroom LAN port -- another EB810v (10G Ethernet backhaul).

EB810v 2.5G LAN port -- -- living room LAN port 2 -- patch panel in DB box -- 2.5G switch -- other bedroom LAN ports (2.5G only)

Finding this forum has reignited my interest in home networking again. Would like to get started adding pfsense to network.

If I'm going for Option 1 then connection would be Nokia XGS-PON ONT -- pfsense box/server -- (1) EB810v@living (no more as a router, but now just as a mesh node - is that correct?) -- (2) 2nd EB810v@BR (mesh node)?

Sorry if this is offtopic - I can move it to the pfsense thread..!

Yes your idea should work.

A little late to the party, but I'm now considering taking up a 10G plan since I'm moving to a new place. Some factors I'm considering when choosing a provider:

1. Provide ONT or ONR in bridge mode
2. Consistent up/down speed even during peak periods

For Pt 1, I know that SH and MR both provide ONT for their 10G plans, while ST still gives ONR. But I've read on some threads here that some ST users have managed to get ST to bridge their ONR. Is this a norm or exception?

For Pt 2, any experience to share?

If you want guaranteed ONT/ONR bridge mode + consistent up and down (read: 8.2Gbps up and down), I don't think you can find a provider that can do both for now. :s13:

Don't need guaranteed 8.2Gbps up and down lah. I know that's not practical and realistic for a consumer plan. Let me rephrase - out of all the 10G provider, which one provides the best speeds?

Pt 1 is possible for sure but Pt 2 is not possible for now and may be possible next year end when NLT upgraded the NGNBN la. Now look like not enough bandwidth for so many 10Gbps users in Singapore to share. No choice just be patient and wait for it to happen in the near future.

You are going to get larger variance and more inconsistency in a 10Gbps plan at this juncture. Off-peak periods you get 8Gbps approx, during peak hours more people demanding more of the total bandwidth will result in your download speeds dropping.

Some information you did not provide is what networking equipment (router, switch, mesh, access points, Ethernet NIC card, etc) you intend to connect to the ONT?

so that you will be able to "spread" the 8Gbps max (off-peak) you get to all the devices you are operating within your home (your devices meaning your PCs, smartphones, IOT devices, wifi-capable TV etc)

As of now, none of ST/SH/MR 10gbps plans can meet your Point 1/2.

1. For Singtel ONR, there are reports that the users can bridge the ZTE F8648P ONR by themselves. This is not supported by Singtel and you have to proceed with your own risks. One report says that the user bricked the ONR and had to pay Singtel to fix the ONR. The other reports says that the user iniitally bricked the ONR but managed to get a new one from Singtel for free and eventually bridged the ONR successfully.

2. Singtel is the only one which can have more consistent speed during peak hours. But then you have issue #1 with Singtel. The reports here from SH/MR users show below 5Gbps during peak hours.

3. Even if you bridged the Singtel ONR, you may still have concerns like the following (post #67) when they push firmware updates to the ONR. You may have to agree the terms and conditions from Singtel.

...

So after some frustration, I bought a NIC with Intel X550-T2. Out of the box, it works correctly....full stop. :ROFLMAO:
Ok...I updated the driver from Intel website later, but that's all you need to do.
Where you get the Intel X550-T2 nic from? Taobao?
