The topic is the extra TX power boost for Australia region settings for Asus router sold in China, not just the availability of Australian region in the wireless settings (which is available for local version).

 Eh...are we talking about the region settings under wireless settings ? I have it too in my local RT-AX86U. If I am not wrong, this should be a standard feature for ASUS routers regardless country origin.
The settings is found at
Wireless - 'Professional' tab - Region (right at the bottom)

Quite a lot of other options there .. too noob to understand them

One issue found -- as of now, wireless profession tab -- region:
Only China and Australia are avialble, no Asia region settings.

Usually I will set the region to Asia to have better Tx power than China region yet comply to local regulations.

1. This seems to be a FW limitation of Asus TUF-6500 (Qualcomm IPQ5322 chipset). I can see the same from Koolcenter review articles.

2. No issues with Asus TUF-3600 and Asus RT-BE88U.

Bros huh,

Just got my ZenWifi BQ16 and setting it up. Noticed the MLO feature is not available with the current firmware. Anyone has it enabled by any chance? My firmware says latest but looks like it was from Jan 2024.

Thanks

If this is the case, then you have to wait.

As per Asus Singapore website, Jan 2024 FW is the latest version.
https://www.asus.com/sg/networking-...16/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=ASUS-ZenWiFi-BQ16

Still maybe you want to search for it.

For my Asus TUF-6500, MLO feature is under the Guest Network section. I do not use the feature as I do not have any WiFi 7 devices as of now.

latest firmware for BQ16 dates back on January 2024, regardless of whether you search in Support pages of ASUS global or ASUS Sg website.

i notice that this is a stark contrast to the BQ16 PRO, which has had 4 firmware releases, the most recent being June 21, includes MLO feature.

Issues found so far for TUF-6500
1) No Asus Instant Guard VPN server support
2) Wireless region settings only got China and Australia, no Asia and other regions
3) Newly found: WAN port only negotiates 1Gbps with my Intel N100 mini PC running virtual pfSense router under PVE 8.2 and not 2.5Gbps. This is a bit strange. I will try OpenWRT virtual router later.

As of now, I will actually recommend Asus TX-AX6000 天选路由器 WiFi 6 (mature, proven performance, with good OpenWRT support) over this TuF-6500 小旋风Pro WiFi 7 even though I believe the issues will be sorted out later.

For issue #3, my work-around now is to use a 2.5G switch in between the mini PC and TUF-6500. Now the WAN port negotiates at 2.5Gbps.

Many thanks. The speed increase was drastic. What used to be 300+Mbps to the balcony room (the furthest room away from the router), now reaches 500+Mbps download.
This is some good hack from Asus router.. How I wish other brands also have.. Lol. Althought merlin firmwares also can boost TX power.

Hi all, would any sifus recommend the Asus TUF AX6000 over GT-AX6000 ? Saw price is cheaper than the ROG but similar specs?

Am on the 3Gbps ViewQwest plan , with router planning to be at DB box for whole house (5rm hdb). PCs and TV will be connected via LAN

Thank you vm

Asus ROG GT-AX6000 has better spec -- 1GB RAM, more firmware features (VLAN and Guest Network Pro). It belongs to the high end. You can get it BNIB from Carousell at around S$360. It is also supported by Merlin FW.

But Asus TUF-AX6000 is also not bad. It belongs upper mid-range (512MB RAM, no advanced FW features like VLAN and Guest Network Pro). It will not get Merlin FW support but it is supported by OpenWRT. You should have no issues using it with VQ 3Gbps plan (used as 2.5Gbps plan).

There is a China version of TUF-AX6000 called TX-AX6000 which is very cheap (below S$200), but no local warranty.

What is your budget?

ROG GT6 is a good upgrade (better than ZenWiFi XT8) for your ZenWiFi CT8. Dual pack is at about S$599.

Asus ZenWiFi XT12 will be even better but the cost is higher.

Asus ZenWiFi BQ16 is still too expensive.
