Hi I also tried the passwords proposed, but nothing seem to work as well. What kind of technician come to your house and never even do the basic courtesy to tell you your password to login the Tplinkwifi.net?

Starhub does not train their technicians, NO SOP, don’t even provide the password for us to enter our router website. We try every admin password, and can’t login into configure. And Starhub still want to charge us another $13 for the technician to come because the previous technician didn’t come and pass us the password. What kind of service is this? I wish they collapse or something, bad service bad management, bad training to the staff.

When the technician came to your house

1) Was you in? If yes, did you ask him for the password?
2) You was not in and leave your parent/siblings to deal with the techician. In which case unlikely they'll ask the technicain for the password, right?

Fixed it myself somehow.. I think "restore" option (not factory restore - just what it got delivered as) may have done it as I could select AP Mode on the initial setup wizard.

Interestingly the EB810v SFP+ port did actually work, but would only negotiate at 1g with Ubiquiti DAC cable (UDM-Pro SFP+ DAC -> EB810v SFP+ DAC) - the EB810v port was actually working as a WAN port. Perhaps with a different module it could negotiate properly as there is no setting in the TP Link UI for it :(

I changed to using the SFP+ RJ45 module on the UDM-Pro and it was fine at 10g to the EB810v WAN RJ45. So now have it in AP Mode with an UDM-Pro in the middle, so it looks like this:
Code:
ONT 10GBASE-T -> UDM-Pro SFP+ 10GBASE-T WAN
SFP+ 10GBASE-T LAN -> EB810v 10GBASE-T WAN in AP Mode (using its 10GBASE-T LAN port for local server)
Oh the ONT has 10gbe SFP+ port?
If i use ONT -> UDM pro -> Enterprise 8 poe switch, do i connect with SFP+ DAC cable between ONT and UDM pro, and between UDM pro and Enterprise 8 switch to fully utilize the 10gbe bandwidth?

Just reset the router and change the password. After reset, the password is on the router itself. It will ask you to reset the password.

Finally Starhub email me the password before i reset. (After numerous email)
There is a technician ID at Work Order which Starhub sent to u via email after installation. Ask Starhub customer service (hubtroopers@starhub.com) to retrieve the password from the Technician.

Starhub customer service damn jialat one. Sometimes i feel that starhub employs them to frustrate the callers so much so that they will quit calling in.

Hi.. I intend to sign up the 10Gps plan with starhub which gives a free Tplink EB810v router.

My apartment is such that each room has a wired router in it (Total 4 routers-3 bedrooms and 1 living room). The free TP link will be placed on top of a false ceiling in the kitchen (the modem is there and fibre broadband wires are all there). From the TP link, I will connect 4 wires (1 for each router).

To maximise the speed, can anyone recommend what type of router should be placed in the room? Room size is standard size room. Wifi is used mainly in the house except for 1 lap top is wired in 1 bed room.

Sorry for newbie question.. i am quite a tech idiot.

My suggestion is NOT to use the eb810v router. Use DECO BE85 10G WiFi 7 routers to create a DECO mesh instead. This allows all locations to have 10G speed theoretically

Your setup is

1 router ==> 10G switch ==> 4 nodes all wired. Can use CAT 6A/7 LAN cables or can use Optic Fibers instead. Optic Fibers allow you for future upgrade to 25/40G. If use Optic Fibers make sure switch has all 10G SFP+ ports

Honestly, having 10gbit myself, it's overkill. You won't get the full 10gbit speed (around 8gbit if there's no contention, which there seems to be with SH), but realistically nothing needs that much bandwidth anyway. I would save yourself money and just keep it simple - use the supplied ONT+Router for the 10gbit WAN, and use the EB810v's LAN ports (1x10, 3x2.5) to feed to those wired routers. If most people are using wifi then those 2.5gbit LAN uplinks are fine for typical Internet activities - even that is overkill.

Starhub recommends another EB810v as the mesh node and they offer the second EB810v at S$15 * 24 months = S$360.

You may not need so many nodes. Please post the floor plan with the details of the location of the FTP, ONT, LAN ports in the rooms and intended placement of the nodes.

TP-Link EB810v is supposed to be able to support TP-Link EasyMesh, so you can consider the following.

1) one more EB810v is a location which can complement the main EB810v

2) If really need to add more nodes in the rooms, you can add 2.5G capable TP-Link EasyMesh capable nodes like TP-Link Archer AX55 Pro. You can of course use EB810v as the mesh node as well

More about TP-Link EasyMesh.

tp-link eb810v for this router, how do i know what other tplink routers is compatible with it to form a mesh? The thing i dont want to3x tp-link eb810v is because the other units i would like to have it mounted on the ceiling. Thisrouter tp-link eb810v doesnt seems suitable to be mounted.

Any recommendation or advise? or is it that any routers using Easymesh will work?

By right EB810v should work with other TP-Link EasyMesh routers to form a mesh system.

However, it is better to confirm with TP-link and Starhub in this case, as EB810v is a service provider model.

I would recommend to avoid TP-Link service provider models in general. But then in this case there are no good alternatives at the same cost level for Starhub users (TP-Link Archer BE805 is close but still not as good in terms of HW spec: lack of 2.5G LAN ports).

I have Unifi enterprise 8 POE switch and 2 U6-pro AP.

I was wondering if TP-link EB810 will play nice with them.

Or should I change to other router such as Asus AX89X (2 x 10 GB port), or even UDM pro?
