i dont think a 15% deficit in raster performance and 50% in vram capacity allows the 4060 to qualify as """more robust in all aspects""". even in raytracing, the b580 is closer to the 4060 than the rx7600 and in certain titles like cp2077 (!) the b580 comes out on top. all that while saving 15% the cost mind u, thats like what local sales look like nowdays (best case) but this is a permanent price undercut.

Of course, the words robustness and performance were never associated together to begin with.

Robustness emphasizes reliability and resilience when tested in a wide variety of conditions. When it comes to reliable drivers, NVIDIA has a long track record for when comes to stability, support and compatibility. AMD is pretty decent nowadays, but Intel current is still in a developmental phase with a lot of room for growth.

A580 should be cheaper to begin with because its lagging in other crucial aspects besides their value/performance proposition.

I think not looking beyond just the performance value offering is why a lot people don't understand why ARC has just 0.2% of the market after 2 years, how AMD is gaining traction, and why Nvidia is the market leader.

Don't forget that AMD also had a record for crappy drivers which was one of the reasons people would stray away, and how that has changed which is shaping them today.

In other words, to attract people to purchase your product it has to appeal in more ways than just one or two aspects. Also, it takes a long time to gain trust.. reputation is very important.. i dont really want to go about that because its intel we speaking of here.

Of course the drivers still got issues, this is only their 2nd iteration of GPU.

GN did mention it in their conclusion that it has less issues than alchemist and easier to recommend but he's 100% sure there's some other issues so probably not recommended to the general audience.

The thing is that is this saving worth your time dealing with issues.. for me its not.

The Battle Mage drivers still have some frame time pacing issues in certain games and tests. While they are not overall superior, they have improved enough that, combined with a low price point of $250 or below, they may be worth considering depending on the games you play. However, a downside remains Intel's idle power consumption, which, although improved significantly, is still higher than competitors. On the positive side, Intel's efficiency in gaming scenarios has improved noticeably, making it competitive in some cases with GPUs like the RTX 4060 and RX 7800 XT.

Previously, with the A750 going on massive sales, we recommended it with heavy caveats. One key concern was the lack of confidence in recommending it to the general mainstream audience due to potential frustration from troubleshooting issues. Users without experience or without a secondary GPU to fall back on might have struggled with games that didn’t work. For instance, Starfield didn’t run on Intel Arc at launch, although some might argue this wasn’t a huge loss given the game's mixed reception.

The Battle Mage lineup has made progress in this area, and we now feel more comfortable recommending these GPUs. However, there’s still a major caveat: this is only Intel’s second true generation of modern discrete GPUs. Thus, we can only base our assessments on what we’ve tested and observed. Across all the games we tested, we didn’t encounter consistent experience-ruining driver-level issues, except for one instance with RT Ultra settings in Cyberpunk 2077.

While I’m certain some issues exist, addressing them is a process that will take a few more generations of GPUs. AMD and Nvidia have had decades to refine their hardware and drivers, and Intel is still catching up. That said, in our testing, the Battle Mage GPUs performed far better than the previous generation, making them a more comfortable recommendation if the pricing is appropriate.

The B580, in particular, offers considerable value in certain scenarios when compared to the RTX 4060 and RX 7600. Its appeal is game-dependent, but overall, this generation has placed Intel in a much stronger position than before.

GN in a nutshell actuallly is saying all games tested work fine. Performance is at 4060 levels and sometimes same or better than 4060 ti. In most cases, better than radeon 7600.

The only issue was CP2077 didnt run with ray tracing ultra. So, for CP2077, dont use ray tracing on ultra or turn it down 1 level. Simple.

At US$250, its pretty much a no brainer in this price point. GN actually said its a comfortable recommendation if the price is appropriate - which it is. What you talking.

i might consider 1 for my minipc. My concern is sometimes the cost of utility. To run features efficently = ????

If you want it, better buy it from official carousel sellers (S$389) before the card disappears from supply.
Like what I said in this thread, the B580 has reviewed well, the performance is good for the price but intel honestly is losing money for every card they make.
They aren't going to be making much of these cards now and and in the future. You heard it here first.

A 4060 8GB itself is US$299 and you are saying a B580 which performs better than a 4060 to sell for S$300?
Nice if it was true. But its not.

4060 price might drop after 5060 comes out. But, that's probably in 2Q to 3Q 2025.
At the moment, i am still seeing 4060 at more or less exact MSRP.

Some more I would believe the B580 is more future proofed with 12GB ram.

It would seem rather shortsighted to buy a current gen brand new card with 8GB ram.

4060 8GB US$299
4060 Ti 8GB US$399
B580 12GB = 4060 Ti 12GB = US$249 / S$389
4060 Ti 16GB US$499

I agree, to me i see it as a start of a possible brighter future, the product dont really scream 'buy me now' with all things considered.

I'm torn between the 4060 and B580, no price diff in my case as the aftershock package for both is same price.. which is the better choice?

Personally I'll go with the B580.

final1 had done up a rough chart above (copied below) where the raw perf of B580 is better than 4060:

4060 8GB US$299
4060 Ti 8GB US$399
B580 12GB = 4060 Ti 12GB = US$249 / S$389
4060 Ti 16GB US$499

Also, 8GB Ram is not enough to future proof your gaming experience.
Quote from article below:

For those of you gaming at 1080p, 8GB is often right on the edge for the latest titles, and in some cases, high or ultra settings will push you over. (ie. not enough RAM even for 1080p gaming at the highest setting - and without DLSS and RT turned on)

https://www.techspot.com/review/285... said, if you enable, will be more than enough.

B580 is the obvious choice as it performs better in most cases as it is actually closer to a 4060 Ti in performance and has 4GB more ram buffer for gaming at higher resolutions, i.e. 1440p max fidelity.

Strange that aftershock quotes same price for B580 versus 4060.
They are marking (scalping?) up the B580.....
There is a good US$50 price difference between the 2 cards.

I noted that the Asrock B580 is sold out on shopee (it was up for a day or two).
The Asrock B580 is also fully taken up for the first shipment from carousell official sellers (sourced from tech dynamic).
