Southkey really popular? Any places to go besides the shopping mall?
Stay at St Giles, room with the buffet breakfast included. At breakfast time, you might just forget you're not in SG. It's that popular. Especially weekends.

You can Grab to other places near and a little further, like Taman Sentosa (for food), Tebrau (for shopping and food), etc. If you're adventurous enough, can even walk to Taman Sentosa.

How is the buffet breakfast different from standard fare?

No idea, a buffet breakfast is a buffet breakfast for me. I either eat at the hotel if it's included, or eat out if it's not too inconvenient.

Just suggesting the buffet breakfast for you to gauge how popular that place is with SGeans, since you asked "really that popular?".

Edit: It's been quite a while since I was last there. Stopped going since it became too popular as I don't like crowd.

Its really popular cause its like where all the expensive brands are gathered. So if you are the typical sinkie that head to toe cladded in branded goods, midvalley is for you.
It's 1 of the more atas mall

If you are the typical sinkie that likes to dine in expensive franchise restaurants, midvalley is also for u.

One of the problems with hotel buffet is the cheapskate sinkie mentality. My mum would eat at least 3x her usual portion until enough to skip lunch. I would also eat more.

If you need 2 rooms/toilets, better to stay at mosaic condo(iirc also by southkey) . There's a coffeeshop downstairs, food not bad.
There's also another condo nearby. Take grab/phv is minimum fare

This forum will banish all Sinkies* using cash and coins on JB buses and CW buses to the 18th level of hell.

*Seniors who are less tech savvy can be excluded I guessed.

Correction.

Only those who start asking about fares and then start digging into pockets for 5c 10c when they get to the entrance, blocking others behind.

Woah you're back!

I rmbr got one uncle (not that old actually) wanted to buy kfc at jb sentral. he told the kfc staffs quite loudly that he dunno how to use the self ordering kiosk, he waited at manual counter for minutes, but nobody attended to him. every single staff was very busy and occupied preparing orders. then i collected my order (after waiting for 15mins), i noticed still nobody attended to him. He could've asked people nearby to help him order from kiosk rather than waiting like ghost ignored... maybe too proud to ask for help...

Maybe not-that-old uncle just shy. Or maybe afraid others will scam him?

But for a sec, I thought you're going to offer him your tray. :s34:

It's really not easy for seniors who are not tech savvy these days, I think every organization should have some protocol in place to be more inclusive for e.g. an on the ground staff to help out the ones who are not so tech savvy but easier said than done as everyone wants to save on labour cost at the same time. My mum has become very withdrawn these days and has a fear of going out on her own now as she knows her limits around these digital environments.
