Recevied a recontract offer for Myrepublic. Im currently on 1 gbps

a) 1gbps @ $34.99 / month for 24 months
Overall = $839.76 for 2 years

b) OR

3gbps @ $30.99 / month for 24 months
+ $50 topup for TP-Link BE230
+ $29.90 topup for installation
Overall $823.66 for 2 years

Qns
1. Makes sense to go with 3gbps right? lol cheaper.
2. Hows BE230?
3. Im currently using old TP Link EX510, can i use it as repeater to cover some parts of house?

Thanks!
I’ve been on MR 3Gbps for one year with three BE230 in an Easymesh wired backhaul. Rock solid 1.7Gbps close by on iphone 16 Pro and about 1Gbps throughout the house. I picked up extra BE230s BNIB for $90 ea on Carousell. EX510 also supports Easymesh so you can continue to use it wired or wireless but wifi 7 iPhone likely to top out at 1Gbps instead of 1.7Gbps.

Old test results below, consolidated by @seowbin on 04-Feb-2024, which may still be valid.

Reference: Fastest ISP thread. M1 and SIMBA may not be good for China contents.

thanks everybody just signed up for gamer 10gbps

MR Gamer plan really shines when it comes to lower latency compared to other ISP plans, not just for China.

For this test, Singtel is very bad. M1 is a bit better than Singtel. VQ and MR Gamer are pretty good.

Today's results (13-Oct-2025), 9:30pm on a Sunday evening.

Singtel results will always look bad for this test -- probably due to bad peering policy.

Similar wireless setup, just a new laptop.

Singtel ZTE F8648P ONR bridged 10G LAN port --> Intel N100 OpenWRT virtual router --> 2.5G/10G switch --> TUF-BE6500 router --> wireless --> Acer Swift Go 14 2024 Laptop running Windows 11 25H2 (Intel Core Ultra 5 125HCPU, 16GB/1TGB, Intel Killer BE1750 WiFi 7 adapter)

Anyone experiencing slowdown in overseas routing for MR over past few days? Has been much slower to load websites in the past few days. Suspect some issues with MR's routing as those same overseas website load very quickly when I access them via a VPN.

For the past few weeks, I've been experiencing a lot of buffering accessing a video site based in the US (Los Angeles). I did a traceroute and observed peak hour congestion on their upstream provider to the US - Tata Communications. The latecy goes up to as high as 800ms (LA is usually around 200ms at most).

I'm on gamer plan and I submitted a request for this to be reviewed but didn't hear back from anyone. I doubt the custom routing form on their website is even being monitored anymore now that Starhub has bought them over. Probably going to some mailbox that nobody is checking.

Now I end up having to use Cloudflare's Warp+ and routing the specific US IP address through it.

OMG, I just recontracted with Myrepublic on the 10G non-gamer plan before I read this.

I would assume they would provide you with a new ONT (possibly along with fiber cable + new Ethernet cable), but generally your existing Ethernet cables would work just fine anyway

That should be normal, MR/StarHub want the users to move away from old GPON based Plans, including MR/SH 1Gbps/2Gbps plan and those who stick to the StarHub 500 Mbps plans.

The only thing to check is whether they give you a good recontract offer or not, say a bit better than the offer mentioned in the website.

For example, StarHub gives recontract offer for S$30.49 per month for 10Gbps with free HB710 to some users. They also have similar 10Gbps offer at S$33.59 (CIS offer or recontract offer) if you cannot get S$30.49 offer.

Not me, my recontract offer from StarHub was in January 2025 (installation in Feb 2025) -- not bad for 5Gbps plan at S$30.37 per month with ONT plus a lousy EX510 router.

Later users got better recontract offer for 5Gbps plan at S$30.37 per month, ONT plus free HB710.

Then recently some users get even better recontract offer for 10 Gbps plan at S$30.49 per month, ONT plus free HB710.

Oh ok but ya really good price :D

MR is giving this TP-Link BE805 10Gbps Wi-Fi 7 Router (worth $799) , should be ok right?
