Just came across this thread. I've previously posted my terrible experience with OpenNet

Bottle line is they are terrible. If you want to schedule a date outside the limited ones they provided, they will charge you. Even one day outside the allocate date, they will charge you $220-$450! No nego on date to come.

Their supplied material is terrible. It'll distroy the look of your place - cheap crappy material sticking on your walls. I want to hide it so need to bring in my own contractor since Opennet refuse to install in false ceiling. But contactor can only make it other date and Opennet refuse to come if I don't pay them $220. WTF! Government paying Opennet to do a job and they still want to charge coz they refuse to shift the date. Calling customer support is like talking to a recording - always repeat the same thing "we will charge you if you want us to come outside allocated date for your area!". Opennet just after $$$

I gave up. Rather go for cable than to be bullied them Opennet :s31:

Nope. The online reservation is sufficient.

Its really dependant on who u kena i think. I received the letter and went online to book a slot. The guys came on the dot. No nonsense abt want to change date or time. Was expecting them to b late but they were here before 930 when the appt was 9-11am.

Guys were polite. I had no special requests so i guess that made things easier. Took less than an hour as i had existing trunking on most walls so they only had to put new trunking one wall.

Rsp coming on fri to setup the ONT. Fingers crossed that everything is fine.

lan cable and optic cable are different thing
Optic cable cannot be made on the spot by personnel who do not have equipment and knowledgeable

Optic cable supplied will ALWAYS be 3m from factory made n supplied source

UTP Ethernet cable is different, ST will provide up to 50meter(??) for that. So no, the guy still goes by the book.

My ONT is in the hall and my pc is in my spare room. Called up Starhub and was quoted $107.00 for a datapoint. Is it expensive?

Never heard of Starhub laying data point ( as in LAN point). Could be msitaken that you need another cable point. Better double-check.

just want to check if this is normal, they did the TP inside my house but the outside cabling have not been done and now i am seeing their contractor doing all the external cabling on the road etc, is this normal? i would have thought that they would have done all the external cabling and then they will go house to house and do the TP.
