As a shareholder of SPH (and by extension HWZ), I'm glad that many are still clueless on using SGX announcement to search for info. I think traffic to this forum will drop by 50% at least if everyone learns to do that.

Qns: Does this mean that if i sell after 23rd oct, i will still get the dividend?

You still get the dividend as long as you sell after XD (21 Oct)

Did not follow these threads for sometime. I went to sgx website to check for sabana distribution, was surprise that there seem to be an additional payout compared to last year. End oct there is one and nov there is another. of course this is a good new but wonder whats the reason?

There was a placement. You'll notice that the Nov distribution is very small because it's for the period after placement date to end of quarter - just 1 week.

The manager of Sabana REIT wishes to announce that the Manager is proposing to carry out a placement of 40,000,000 new units in Sabana REIT to institutional and other investors at an issue price of between S$1.00 and S$1.02 per New Unit to raise gross proceeds of no less than S$40.0 million.

To put it simply: Placement are new units (or shares if you prefer) in the company issued to institutional investor for the REIT to raise funds.

Basically, Sabana REIT wanted to raise funds to acquire a property. So, they decided to do a private placement to institutional investors at a discounted price.

Since this is not a rights issue, retail investors like us cannot participate in it.

Seriously newbie ? Join since 2011 leh.
Cut off point for new new unit on distribution.
So Current-Unit holder wont feel unfair. So new unit only enjoy the dividends on future dividends based on the date of new-units being listed.

We get the advanced distribution so that it is fair for us since we cannot participate in the private placement.
Bcos once the newly-placed units begin trading on the market, the value of our units will be diluted.
