Oh shoot. Just submitted an application for 300/24 months and this is what I read in the forums.

Hopefully this is a one-time affair and not a recurring one, or else I would bang my head for the next 24 months. :spin:

First time in a long time :) and working to have it the last in an even longer time

I have updated the latest version of myTV apps for the VQbox. The previous version was 3.0.5 and the latest version is 3.0.6 from http://tvbox-android-apps.blogspot.sg/

I found that when I watch live on HD Jade the new version 3.0.6 is a delayed telecast of 1/2 hour behind.

I tested it with the apps using the Iphone version and confirms that the 3.0.6 was telecast was 1/2 hour behind.

Next I used another VQbox with the 3.0.5 version and the telecast of live HD Jade is live per the iphone version.

I don't know why??

Can NOC look into this with your HK provider??

Thanks

I'll see if I can find any info about this, however chances are TVB decided to introduce a 30min delay to broadcast as it's unlikely any network issue will incur a 30min delay :/

yeah, it was quite short to be honest this time. u can see the core of viewquest is to actually maintain the fastest and reliable speed in SG. if this is the traffic light ISP they will only reply back by twitter or facebook in a sentence post only. at least VQ personals will reply here and keep u update about the situation.

althought the funny part is when the network is down we will come to hwz forum to post first:s13:

last year during this mth there was a longer downtime, at least they managed to get it up at 4am, :) so yesterday 1 is indeed consider short. u can find from the post below.

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/n...viewqwest-fibre-3271541-175.html#post75577254

happy to be on viewquest network for 2 years

I have an Asus RT-AC68U and I set up the built-in OpenVPN to be used overseas. Super easy to setup and I can even share my Hulu/Netflix with friends as such :p

VQ have set up the Asus router for me.
I set up VPN server using OpenVPN, used my iphone on cellar internet to download the VPN profile and connect successfully. I'm able to surf but i'm unable to go into netflix still. What did i do wrong?

Likely a routing issue. Your iPhone could be going to Netflix via the mobile network, instead of through the OpenVPN tunnel.

You may need to setup OpenVPN to route Netflix traffic through it for all connected clients. I'm not sure how to do this. Maybe some gurus more experienced with OpenVPN on ASUS routers can help.

Cheers

Is there an incident report for the latest incident? I know I had a previous issue on VQ but that was related to Opennet fiber problem.

Solved it! Under advanced settings i set "Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic", "Respond to DNS" and "Advertise DNS to clients" to YES, and it works.

Nice, watching netflix on cellular network now :)

Hi everyone,

You should have all received a statement from our CEO in your e-mail concerning yesterday's outage - here it is again though just in case it got caught in some spam filters ;)

"Last night, beginning at 6:15pm, an outage was reported on our core network which resulted in all Fibernet customers experiencing connection loss or poor connectivity to most sites. Our engineers applied a partial fix at approximately 7:40pm, full service was restored for the entire network by 10:40pm.

First off, we would like to deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident. The reliability and stability of our network has been, and always will be, our top priority. The outage was the result of an optimization error to some of our primary and backup equipment on the core network. This optimization had been planned and tested thoroughly under lab conditions and was believed to be ready for deployment. Unfortunately however, an error occurred during the implementation to the live network, which resulted in the outage.

We will be speaking with our vendors to understand why the error occurred during the implementation and not under lab conditions. Furthermore, we acknowledge that this implementation should not have been carried out during the evening, and would like to assure you that further changes/optimizations to the core network will only be carried out during designated maintenance windows and/or non-peak usage times.

Again, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident and hope we can count on your continued support."

To be fair, this is my first encounter. I am on VQ for almost 7-8 months now.

Good for you and VQ then.

Was on purple before and I haven't experienced(call me lucky) a downtime in almost a year, or maybe I just missed the downtime while I was not at home.

on VQ for 2 yrs. this is the first downtime experienced as highlighted. this is because for some reasons they actually implement the optimization during the holy evening peak hours.
thus we all 'noticed' it.
otherwise, i do not sort of recall any major downtime during un-announced maintenance.
so this incident is still ok to me.

Hi guys,

I have a problem with Youtube app on my VQTV. Everytime I try to launch the app it says that I need to update Google Play Service before I can use. When I click 'update', it will bring me to Google Store page with no button to update.:s11:

Can anyone help?

Was it some kind of core equipment firmware update? Is VQ first customer to deploy this changes, equipment supplier have to answer some hard questions.

On hindsight, may be safer to update only primary equipment and leave backup for backup.

I believe there are quite many of us here who have been with ViewQwest for a long time (>2 years) and probably even some of us who are on non-contract plans. Such outage is definitely rare and the MTTR is usually fast, esp. given that we are somewhat kept informed of the issue and progress status (most transparent of all Fiber RSPs I have seen).

I am on non-contract so if ViewQwest's service has not been able to meet my expectations, I would have long dumped them. And those long time forumers here who knows me, knows I am quite a demanding chap. Not sure if this is of any consolation for you. :p
