I got quite a number of days with only 1 spending that is less than $10 so I know from the total Optimum$ awarded, the rounding down to 0.1 daily definitely applies to less than $10 purchases

Only if your spend fall within the 1% category, no? At least, according strictly to T&C. If you say otherwise because you have experienced it, then maybe it's better that way =) Maybe a blunder on ANZ side. haha

All my spends are 5% category as I specifically using this card for dining.. Those less than $10 are fast food spendings and I'm pretty sure ANZ didn't make any blunder given that they correctly rounded down to the nearest $1 for the statement month..

The earn rate of 0.5 per $10 is just to illustrate how much u can earn for each spend but it doesn't mean u're restricted to min spend of $10. The restrictions are separately defined in clause 10 and 11 so the tnc actually makes sense..

If I have a $1,200 transaction at the hotel, does anyone know if by splitting the transaction into 2 x $600 will get $30 + $30 cash back? :s22:

I just checked with the cso.

The optimum dollar is calculated per transaction and rounded down to the nearest 0.1 optimum$.
- Under the 1% tier, each transaction must be at least $10. Every $10 earns 0.1 optimum$
- Under the 5% tier, each transaction must be at least $2. Every $2 earns 0.1 optimum$ (Clarified with the CSO that "0.5 Optimum$ for every S$10.00" in the t&C is just an illustration)

At the end of the calendar month, there will be another rounding down to the nearest 1 optimum$

thanks, this is very helpful

kinda regret applying for amex cos 5% cashback only applies for the initial 3 months

which category do you guys usually allocate your expenditure to? dining?

It worked under food and leisure category for my hotel stay. I will assume it works for travel category also.

I booked hotel thru AGODA only 1%. CSO said that falls under "travel", not my chosen cat of "leisure"

Any further explanation from cso? Eg agoda considered online travel portal or mcc for agoda etc
