Hi,

Would it be ideal to have two AC88U in media bridge mode to cover 5,000 square feet and 8 rooms.

Just a question If I decided to use ac88 to replace my 7009, my setup is ac88u(router-set singtel-others profile)->ac68u(ap)>singtel tv
Will this work? or cannot pass through another router?
Any firmware to take note?

ac88u will only allow port 4 to have singtel tv service while 1-3 will be for normal internet. if you connect ac68u to port 4, singtel tv will work but no internet access for all other devices. if you put in 1-3, internet works but not singtel tv.

ac88u is unlike 7009 which all 4 ports are customised to receive singtel tv and for internet delivery.

ya, i know that once you select the profile, port 4 is iptv without internet access. So if i connect ac68u to that port 4 of 88u, all ports on it do not have internet access.

So do you mean it will work if it is configured as per below?

ac88u(set as normal router)->ac68u(router set as singtel profile, disable DHCP)> Port 4 - singtel tv

or (if Lroom have 2 lan points)

ac88u (set singtel profile)
-> ac68u port 1 - internet/ap
-> STB port 4 - iptv

or no other ways liao

no configuration all wrong. ac88u has to be on singtel-others profile and you ac68u has a built in access point mode. so you don't have to meddle with the ac68u side. either way, ac88u cannot run on normal mode if singtel-others profile is not applied.

i don't understand your 2nd configuration at all, if you mean stb to be connected to ac88u, then it works. if u mean stb to ac68u port 4, then it doesn't.

The end point is stb to connect from ac68u as ac88 is far away from stb

Hello,

If I order a RT ac88u from Singapore or China can I use a UK 3 pin plug to C5 (cloverleaf) to the power supply brick? Also is the Asus router hardware region locked (which affects which wi-fi channels/frequencies are available to the router etc)?

Thank You,

Chillipepa

Singapore sets come with UK 3 pin plug. Not sure for ac88u as my test unit didn't come with actual Asian packaging. My ac5300 only comes with a 3 pin extension cable for the power brick though.

It is possible if ac88u(port 1,2 or 3)-> Singtel 7009 >singtel tv?

U mean singtel 7009 through either port 1,2,3 of ac88u? If it works, it's wireless coverage not very good. That's why I want to get rid of it and put the other router instead. But because of the vlan thingy seemed like it won't work unless can dual vlan tagging for ac88u

well, i don't think the above set up will work either. ac88u does not handle singtel tv vlan for ports 1 2 and 3. Even if you configure 7009 into access point mode, it will still not handle the vlan behalf of ac88u.

you can try putting the 7009 into bridging mode, meaning to use as a secondary router, maybe perhaps it might work. never tried before but i don't think 7009 works well in this type of set up..

You might wanna consider the wifi mesh solution also. it supports singtel tv and it helps with the wifi coverage too.
