uhh actually for this case abit different... cos GT radial trying to break into SG market so they're selling their tyres at very low prices at the moment...

what kind of tyres are u looking for? track/wet traction/comfort/noise/durability? and the price? maybe i can get my friend to recommend some tyres if you want...

thanks again. I dont track and I'm looking at comfort. but thanks for the reply n help. appreciate it.
ive called a few tire shops over the weekend n decided which one to go to. I hate to say it but some of these shops I called n spoke to were a bit impolite. there was one who quoted 200 plus per tire depending on car. i was scratching my head and wondering what has car gotta do with the tire size. so I tried to probe further and I could tell he started to get angry. lol. cant blame them cos they don't need biz I guess.
but thanks for the offer. :)

yes, I prefer comfort to speed. I've driven above 140 on ns hwy on my current set of conti and find it ok. and oh u really hit the jackpot cos I was advised to try toyo proxes. I couldnt recall which type of toyo my friend recommended until I read what u wrote.
would u, by any chance, know if proxes will be more pricey than T1s?

Toyo Proxes T1 Sport @17' - $220 +/-$20

Toyo Proxes C1S @17' - $160* +/-$20

*Think they have two speed version for the C1S - W & Y
(W should be $20-$30 cheaper). But don't fret it - 270km/h vs 300km/h - both speeds you will not reach during daily driving.

NB: T1-Sport runs noisy after 20K-30K and its tread wears out faster than the average tyre. C1S is more consistent and longer-lasting.

no problem. that's good that you've decided.

always remember safety first though. when driving the 4 rubber vv important... safety cannot scrimp one...

Oh one more thing, Toyo tyres load-bearing index are rated 98 - meaning they can take a much heavier load by 100-200kg more than most other tyres of the same class in the market.

Means more sturdy-built.

It is always better to invest in a slightly over kill tires.
you never know when you need the extra stopping power and the grip.

I have several rides too, from personal experience tyres should typically be changed every 35k-40k or after 2-3 years on the car.
My current set has been driven 40k, and is almost 3 yrs old liao. Michellin primacy 3. Still got lots of thread left, like can go another 20k....

I dunno if i should push it to go 60k to last 5yrs, so i only need to change it once throughout the 10 yrs....

But i more inclined to change it at 45k or 3yrs 4mths mark so i change it twice throughout the 10yrs.... one set of PS3 225/45/r17 cost $700 thereabouts, and works out to $17/mth... not sure if worth the risk to push to 5 yrs

that's true. i guess you need to decide whcih is a priority for you - safety or that few hundred dollars. why size of tires are u currently using?

Besides the Toyo C1S for this category of quiet & comfort performance tyres, another tyre I would look at would be the Pirelli P7 Cinturato - a rare 'AA' rated tyre - for excellence in wet braking as well as fuel economy.

Get the Pirelli Cinturato P7 'Blue' version, that's more performance orientated; been trying to find it in Singapore to no avail though.

60k is pushing it already.

Key is if you still feel safe in it.

The rationale is simple. The peak tyre performance comes in after the first 500km rubbing-in period. Then over time, performance will deteriorate and you can feel it, especially on wet days. Change it out when you no longer feel it's safe.

oh very similar to mine... ok it's less than $200 per pc for either toyo or continental. $2+ a day for peace of mind is ok...

Price difference for 225/45/R17 and 225/50/R17 (for stock GS300) can be as much as $50 per piece for the same brand and model. :s13:

Think it has to do with demand and supply.

Someone was mentioning that Continental Sport Contact 5 for this size is going for $160.

It's a steal!

CSC5 is one of the best mass market high performance tyres money can buy.

Top performance, sharp response, short dry/wet braking. Only downside for me is it's a tad too noisy especially after I have tried much quieter tyres.

Thanks. Is csc5 a notch up from ps3? Was considering f1a2 and ps3... suddenly you recommend csc5...
