yeah. i come from 13" rMBP. 15" rMBP felt big for me.

thats why i need to go see 15" TB MBP again to decide whether that is the size for me

same I feel 15" is big.. the issue is it still value for money, the problem with 13" the base still at 8gb and 4 core

vs 15" base is 16gb + 6 core and added bonus is the dGPU

that's why I'm having headache if I really want to upgrade this time around or extend my late 2016 MBP next year lol coz my issue on this is just storage and 2x TB3 at right side low bandwidth compare to 2017 > model

Not too sure when the bts ends. But if you are already planning to get a Macbook this year, my as well get now to take advantage of the 20% off Apple care and free Beats. It’s quite rare that new MacBooks gets to take advantage of bts as usually larger upgrades are done towards the end of the year. I don’t really like Beats solo, how I wish Apple gives AirPod instead hahaha

The different is $2588 (13”) vs $3488 (15”). Question: will this $900 be worth for core increase, additional ram + standalone GPU + 2” bigger screen? That is my dilemma. Thinking I will also upgrade my ram to 16gb if I buy the 13” model. CPU maybe not

actually if you are asking these questions. most likely you don't need the 15".

Coming to your point you stated, I felt that my next MBP upgrade doesn’t have to be the highest end model, which I always bought. The only advantage on getting the flagship model is don’t have to upgrade for some time.

But I still love the 15”, mainly on its dual-graphics feature. I find the 13” a little too small especially when I’m doing photo editing.

I think price is not an issue for those who buy Mac. Question is which one more value for $. Just like upgrade. Do u upgrade cpu, ram, ssd? Some website say ram is the most value for $ upgrade and you see a lot of improvements. The rest maybe not

Yup. 2012 rMBP still chugging along. Its any to get replaced.

I've decide on the final config. Gonna bite the bullet and go with i9/32gb/1tb

Just plan based on 3 years. End of 3rd year, scrap. LOL!

Yes, integrated graphics. Now current one is Iris Plus. By itself the Iris Pro is already quite powerful with around 1.5GB memory.

Not enough for my usage, I work with a lot of raw files, GPU is rather important for me, I upped the GPU option to 4GB DDR.

Think my SSD is 512Gb only. Not as issue since I have a 4TB NAS. I love my TB MBP. I keep my 2010 unibody 13” for YouTube and casual use now.

Way smaller.

I come from the 15” mbp then to 13” unibody and the 15” MBP TB is sleek and very nice to hold/carry.

Speakers are great with the occasional YouTube watching and my processing of RAW files has never been faster. Loooooooovin’ it!

Mine’s a 2016 with 16GB RAM and 4GB Radeon 460.

Imagine 32GB with 4GB Radeon 560...

Not sure whether u guys can c from the photo.

The below part got those black spots. It is very clear esp in white background regardless of screen brightness.

Is this a defect?

That time i posted in this forum regarding the issue I faced.

I brought it to service center and the guy who served me told me it's quite a common issue and he seen a few cases already.

At the same time, I randomly tell him that my keyboard have intermittent issues (However, it is not). The guy told me that they will check.

In the end they helped me to change the screen + keyboard (which come with new trackpad/top case/battery).

Apple sent me the invoice and the cost is abt 1.2k for these 2 items.

comparison:
model: 15" vs 13"
core: 6 vs 4
ram: 16 vs 8 ram
thread: i7 ??? : ??? i5
dGPU: Have : NONE

except the dGPU I actually want power as much as possible coz I'm using it for gaming/development/personal thingy.

so if I actually I upgrade my specs to i7, 16gb ram the range will be around 3.7 SGD vs 3.9 against 15" mbp.. then you have penalty of less core and no dGPU too. so I dont think saying 900 SGD is correct... the difference its actually 200 and cheaper considering you have 2 more core and got dGPU.

(anyways as much as I want to get this latest MBP, for this year I dont think I have budget to spent so I'll skip it and shoot for next iPad Pro release instead... my late 2016 MBP still okay anyways the only issue is storage)

Update: little correction base on 500gb strorage its actually 500 SGD difference or 3.5k SGD for MBP TB 13" i5 500GB 16RAM..

the 3.7k SGD was base on MBP TB 13" i5 1TB 16RAM

My very first MBP (2010) lasted 5 years before having to upgrade to my current one (2015). Now over 3 years on and still going strong. Hope it lasts another 2 years or so.
