Issues like?

For the same price, 3080 is a much better choice. If cheaper by 150-200 or so the 6800 xt is a better one imo. The smaller the gap, the less worth 6800 xt is due to features on the 3080

Hmm I see issues like game crashes, black screen etc! But after reading more, seems like AMD got their act together this time round!

Wah! Thank you all for the comparison and advices for the both! I was thinking of switching my order from the Suprim X 3080 to a Sapphire Nitro RX 6800 XT due to prices creeping up and the long wait! Not sure how long I’ll have to wait for 6800XT to be back in stock and pretty sure it will be in stock faster than the Suprim X 3080.

I think you'll get the Suprim X fulfilled faster. AMD cards like very little production. summore SG little stocks.

But you'll likely get unpopular models faster like Eagle, Ventus, vision, holo

Oh? I spoke to PCT and they said Radeon stocks are better in terms of stocking up. Which is the trend I’m seeing on their FB page also haha

If like that, camp convergentsg shopee and lazada page.

In my opinion, if you are waiting for a RTX 3090, its likely that you can find it on Lazada/ Shopee. If its the RTX 3080, then its going to be really tough. Stock is very limited and many wanting to buy it.

I meant for 6800 xt if you're going for that. I saw the nitro+ and SE version pinged on my distill yesterday around 5pm. Convergentsg restock regularly, almost a few times a week.

They do? I also have distill for the 3070 but never go off one lol, the only time i manage to get one from them is luck, but need another card for my own build now...

Personally, I feel that 6000-series GFX has potential but not all games are optimized to use the power yet. Maybe AMD is too focused to develop feature sets for PS5, Xbox Series S/X instead of PC.
On the PC side, 6000-series RDNA2 looks more like 1st generation trial product. By the time, AMD implements something like DLSS, most likely 7000-series or 8000-series will be out.
As many posters mentioned, if you even think about RT & 4K gaming, then nVidia is the obvious choice.
If 1080p or 1440p, better upgrade CPU & memory :)

The pipe cleaner is actually the stop gap RDNA, i.e. RX 5000 series. The RDNA2 is a refined version and as you can tell, there are significantly less bumps with the launch of RDNA2 as compared to the first generation RDNA. In my opinion, DLSS alternative is less of a priority on PC because you can tell that it runs almost every game with high framerates (without RT). As the product starts to age, I think that is were something like a DLSS will be beneficial to extend its lifespan. Of course all these, my assumption that RT is not a priority for the user. If RT IS a critical feature one must have, then the DLSS alternative is a must have.

I totally agree. From hardware point of view RDNA2 is mature. Just look at how well it's implemented on the PS5 and Xboxes.
I think AMD just need to optimize their drivers and communicate with game developers to code for RDNA2.
It's all a software problem.

But to be fair to nVidia, DLSS does make a difference. Recently, nVidia also updated their drivers to support BAR on some MBs, giving nVidia cards free performance upgrades for some.:s12:

Amd is developing their dlss tech with directML. And they are pushing it on consoles which is where its much needed to support rt feature. It is planned to come to pc as well as part of fidelity fx.

But it will be a first iteration of this on amd gpu so its kinda like rt, where the performance you can expect not to be as good as nvidia dlss. But can expect more games to support as developing for console means they can port over amd super resolution support onto pc platform as well.

Sounds like 6800XT is the way to go for now. I think at the price point now vs 3080 that's gonna climb to retail around 1.5k to 1.6k (and black market going at 2k), might as well go for 6800XT.

Game optimization is always required, this I agree. But in my opinion, I feel that the RTX 3000 series don't seem to be well optimized from an architecture level when it comes to gaming. The cards are no doubt very powerful, but if you look at almost all the games, they may fall quite significantly behind the RX 6800 XT when you are running a resolution below 4K. The high end Ampere cards will only stretch its legs when running at 4K. So my guess is that AMD's Infinity Cache really works wonder at a resolution below 4K, or something odd about the RTX 3090/3080 where they seem to be very CPU bound. It just my observation, and something that bugs me which is why I went for the RX 6800XT instead. But I am happy to try out the RTX 3080 if I manage to get one. :s13:

Yup confirmed. 4 years for Gigabyte aorus. Others all 3 except for sapphire which is 2.
btw for Gigabyte eagle series, seems to be 3 years warranty, not 4

For 6800xt , its easier to get stocks then 3080 haha..... trying to hunt down another 3080 for a friend of mine as well.

At one point , amazon was selling 6900xt for under 1.6k

I agree. All these upscaling technology will greatly benefit the console market since that's where the GPU tend to lag behind over the years.

My personaly take is, if AMD and MS can come out with a decent upscaling technology that works in every game, it will ultimately supercede DLSS. The latter is superior because of the Tensor cores performing upscaling with some intelligence, but I don't feel its scalable since it seems to require effort from developers with every game title. How much effort, I am not sure. But looking at the fact that only Nvidia sponsored titles get out of the box, it is not a small effort. The Sapphire Trixx Boost uses the existing Radeon Fidelity features to perform image upscaling, followed by image sharpening. While the output may not be as good as DLSS, Sapphire claims this works in all games, and it seem little to no effort from the game developers is required. So it is a win win for gamers and game developers.

Ok I'm sold.

Should I grab any 6800XT out there, or should i aim for only Sapphire? :s13:

Haha but currently DirectML is still not released yet. Question is, will it be just a driver update for current 6000 series or only available for maybe let’s say next gen GPU?

I'd take Sapphire Nitro+ series, PowerColor Red Devil and XFX Speedster MERC319.....any of these three would be fine.

Red Devil, Nitro+ and Merc319 are all very highly rated. Safe choices. Don't know about Gigabyte and Asus, didn't keep up. Nitro+ seems to have the most stock followed by Red Devil. I haven't seen a single person getting the Merc319 in Singapore.

Anyway imo you shouldn't be thinking of features that may or may not come like DirectML. We don't have a set date and RT for rDNA2 was skirt around by AMD for a reason. When you purchase a card, compare features that are available right when you put it into your computer. Everything else is bonus.

I'm excited for AMD cards next gen. The gap is really2 close than it's ever been for a long time now.

For me, 3080 edges out due to more features at the almost same price. If AMD kept their promise that they will bring prices down to near msrp, 6800 xt is a clear winner. I cannot bring myself to buy a 6800 xt over 3080 at the current moment.
