This gen cards is gonna last quite a while since the jump from 5700XT is pretty significant, similar to the RTX 3 series. Thats why I'm having a dilemma if I were to buy vs do I really need it since I don't play games daily. :s13:
I made the jump from the very capable VEGA64 Red Devil to the RX 6900 XT, the latter is a pretty clear upgrade in terms of framerate, and ability to max out ingame settings and still get higher fps.

Like my fav game, Metro Exodus, seeing consistent >100fps though there are scenes that it may drop to about 60fps (usually with panoramic view of far off scenery). Such a pleasure to play games and be able to max out settings (no RT obviously) and still get awesome framerates.

After the dumpster fire that is CP2077, I realised I went back to old games like DotA2, CSGO and Starcraft 2. All 3 no need 3080. The only taxing game I play (seldom) is CoDWZ or Blops. Fell into the hype of cp2077

Not interested in far cry, asscreed and hitman. Excited for RE8 though but that seems far off. And I might get that for ps5 for the resale value too.

To be honest, there are very few new game titles that is fun to me. A lot of them emphasizes on open world, great graphics, and multiplayer/ battle royale mode. Unfortunately, the storylines and sometimes gameplay are typically very shallow, and don't attract me. For me, RE2, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Shadow of the Tomb Raider are some good game titles these few years. There are likely more, but these are the ones I've played so far.

PSU and fans, no problem because I've confirmed that with them before. If you want to get your own motherboard as well, then might as well go DIY. After all, if something goes wrong with the system and the issue is with the motherboard, you will still need to send it back for RMA and install everything back yourself.

I am hoping Fallen Order gets a sequel. It was really a very memorable game to play and reminds me of Rebel Assault / Dark Forces DOS games days. They had the best storylines during that time and Fallen Order seems an original refresh. Hope Fallen Order 2 can deliver too!

I was thinking the same. I got so walloped by Darth Vadar at the end that I am looking forward to a rematch in Fallen Order 2. :s13: To be honest, I was a little surprised when I saw Darth Vadar towards the end. I always had the impression the timeline of this game is after the 6 original episodes, but turns out that it was after the clone war.

I just hope they don't mess up the sequel.

Game optimization is always required, this I agree. But in my opinion, I feel that the RTX 3000 series don't seem to be well optimized from an architecture level when it comes to gaming. The cards are no doubt very powerful, but if you look at almost all the games, they may fall quite significantly behind the RX 6800 XT when you are running a resolution below 4K. The high end Ampere cards will only stretch its legs when running at 4K. So my guess is that AMD's Infinity Cache really works wonder at a resolution below 4K, or something odd about the RTX 3090/3080 where they seem to be very CPU bound. It just my observation, and something that bugs me which is why I went for the RX 6800XT instead. But I am happy to try out the RTX 3080 if I manage to get one. :s13:

Maybe it's because I am running @ 4K! :D

To be honest, Cyberpunk is not my type of game. I am not into some gigantic open world game. Rather I don't mind losing out this supposed open world, in exchange for a good story and gameplay. I won't even mind losing out on the graphical eye candies like RT too. :o

I was playing it earlier. Story was ok. But the driving in the city was crap. I was barely coping at 40fps in low - medium range. :s13:

I'm actually playing more Coldwar than Cyberpunk. Even Coldwar with RT on in multiplayer is gonna get you killed. Frame drops is so unpredictable. Disabled it for multiplayer but toggle it back on for campaign.

Cyberpunk still not really playing it find Hitman 3 much more interesting and graphics are phenomenal.

I feel you need a lot of patience playing Hitman. You can plan however you want, but things may go south when executing the plan. I remember at one point I decided to just go in guns blazing instead of stealth. :s13:
