i think depends on the policy one

check the certificate of insurance given to ur father

for most cases, as long as the car is driven with the permission or knowledge of insured, it is alright

Maybe GTR different..super high risk.

Anyway why TS want to buy GTR? Any reason?

my agent tell me that is the case for unrestricted policy which applies to most cars. however, GTR classified as restricted class, which means, all drivers must either be insured or named drivers. Even in the case of company insurance, there is a need to name every single driver to be covered. so my situation is such that as long as the insurance company knows i am the named driver, they reject my father. i don't have bad record, no offences, no claims for the 4 years of my driving experience.

Maybe GTR different..super high risk.

Anyway why TS want to buy GTR? Any reason?

i like the GTR for the power, the looks, and the style. currently, i am driving another car with the BHP tuned to almost double of original. it is fast, but it is taxing because i have to keep looking out for LTA because it is illegally modified. I want to get a car for the same thrill but minus the constant looking at rear mirrors.

Corect me if I am wrong that not all insurance's the same.

For eg, commercial vehicle insurance only covers staff of the company.
And if purchasing coverage with direct-asia(as I did), it do not cover driver who is P-plate.

So some super high-end car will only cover a particular named driver (under this case and I heard fair-lady is also one of it thou).

Why so? Cause the cost of repair via claim will be high.
As what TS enquire on, due to lot of total-loss of this model, it is deem as a 'special' car.

Of course, you may chose to ignore.
But cheycheychey, if got into any accident.
Seriously do not is it you suay or the victim suay.
The driver will face charges for driving without valid insurance coverage which I do not know what is the penalty, heard licence revoke thou.
But suay suay super suay the victim will not be able to claim your insurance and need civil suit against you.

Think about it, if any of your friends/relatives (touch wood) is being hit by such irresponsible driver, how do you feel?

So yes, anyone can do without getting caught but if getting any other road users in such tight situation due to your selfish-act.
Will you be guilty for it?
Given it is not just purely an accident which it can seriously be avoided from the start of it.

It a question mark for many to fill in the blank.
Everyone will goto be responsible for their own action thou.

But the fact is that, beside what lot of money can bring you closer to your dream.
Consider if it a must?

Crazy it sound.

But do you need to?
Beside being rich as it your money which you may control how you wish to spend it.

i control for a very long time liao. i wanted it since 2008 but no licence, then when i got licence, same issue, they say no insuring for 21 year olds. so now 25, again same **** from those insurers, so by the time i 29, i think they again raise the bar to 34. then i think by that time government ban all sports car liao.

i don't want to enjoy a thrill car when i am old, cause by then people will stereotype me.

I mean it, that am not against you but from the way you replied.
I smelll a very strong sense of ego boiling away....

Ask this yourself, are you driving for the sake of yourself, your own pleasure of enjoying the the ride of this monster?
OR are you driving to let other 'SEE' you are driving a GTR?
Think I shall not comment further which make you feel otherwise given that I am in no position to judge anyone.

Just sharing my 2€ worth.

Cheers and do hope your dream comes true!

(1) Negotiate with insurer or

(2) I can't remember the exact amount. But you can deposit a sum/bond with the government directly. IIRC, it's 6 digits. Third-party cover only.

The insurers are not deliberately toying with you. The idea of insurance is for LTA to know WHO PAYS when there is damage.

Before accident, everyone thinks they're safe drivers and everything will be fine. After accident, call lawyer to try and squirm out of the liabilities.

i won't lie, i want to drive a GTR for ALL those reasons you mentioned. but think about it, the GTR is not really a head turner or attention grabber. I bought it because i really want to drive it. If i want to show off, a porsche, maser, lambo, ferrari would do it. i am no expert in driving, but i really enjoy driving, so i feel that the GTR is the best choice i can have. if you still think my ego has a problem, you are entitled to your opinion.

Depends on the terms and conditions of the policy (and hence depends on the insurer's willingness to insure), some insurance is void if not driven by named driver or insured, while most policies just have an excess if not driven by named driver(s). :o

Try AIG (Chartis) or AXA, from my experience they are more willing to insure sports/super cars. ;)

Yes dragon is right . I am 28 and I drive a GTR, my insurance is from Chartis but since it had been bought over by AIG , its AIG now.
You can go to AIG building beside M hotel to get your insurance.

and Yes , only the name driver can drive the car. if your friends or gf or family member need to drive the car legally , you need to add their name in your insurance at an additional cost. I added my gf name and it cost additional of 3k due to her driving experience and such.

Btw, you need insurance before LTA issue you the road tax. I wonder how u can have the GTR without insurance and road tax hehehehe .....

Btw if you keep your horsepower below 550 bhp and change your gearbox oil frequently then your shouldn't have to worry about GB problem. but one point to take note , the oil change is expensive.
