auto car please
haha

some questions on penang
im landing penang at 1430hrs, staying at lone pine hotel for 4day 3 nights
1)are there any spa/massage for couple?
Spa not exactly cheap in penang, if u wan good want, u can consider the one in eastin hotel, Danai Spa
2)better to go on trishaw tour or walk around for the wall paintings and penang heritage?
this one up to u, most people walk or ride bike, trishaw is another kind of experience.
3)any nice food around lone pine hotel?
if u drive, can consider go sunshine bay seafood or Pang hainan seafood, else u can venture the food courts and street hawkers along main road at night, there is The Ship and a few interesting cafes like Ferringhi Gardens (slightly more expensive but nice place)
4)where to see penang bridge?
if u just wan to see it, u can see it from Chew Jetty or the seaside @ Queensbay Mall area. if u drive, u can stop in the middle of the bridge (safety stop area but dun stay too long). some who drive, take car ferry to butter worth then enter via bridge, another option u can consider
5)what are the bus operating timing? say if i want to see penang bridge at night, what time is the last bus?
no bus to penang bridge, u can take bus to queens bay mall and see it from there, last bus check bus guide, prob about 11pm

rented from Penang Malaysia Car Rental - SD Easy Rent A Car Sdn. Bhd. boss very friendly, pick up and return can be any place and very flexible.

For Q5, there are free shuttle buses running on Penang Bridge but it is only on normal Malaysia working days morning and evening. The buses start from Sunway Carnival, Seberang Perai to Bukit Jambul and vice versa. You may check rapidpg.com.my/journey-planner/route-maps website for details. I personally do not recommend visitors take the buses because they do not stop in any tourist spots except Free Industrial Zone areas.

I will be going to Penang on 14-17 August.. However will only arrive in Penang around 4-4.30pm..

Would like to ask, which will be a better hotel to stay in.. Sunway hotel or Traders hotel..

Is it safe to self drive in penang?

or would it be better to hire a driver? and does anyone has a good recommendations?

Sunway is a older hotel, below it are the new lane street night hawkers,
Traders is newer and is right beside komtar where a lot of buses stop by apart from Jetty.

Both hotels are quite near each other actually, so pick the one according to your budget and preference

it is safe to self drive in penang.

that place is near gurney, no need to go so far. coffee museum.

any super market nearby will sell it. if u dun wan the trouble, any tourist site will have vendor still it too.

for snacks, u means the tau sa piah? i prefer go straight to maker buy instead

the 2 most popular is Ghee Hiang and Him Hiang

Ghee Hiang (義香) now factory made, there are many branches all over georgetown,so its very easy to buy and packaging nice, but taste not as nice as before.

Him Hiang (馨香餅家) only 1 branch, and you have to go slightly earlier or the popular items will be sold out. note this place is on a 1 way street, so if u take bus, prepare to walk a lot to go back

I will also recommend Seng Hiang (成香), it is near sunway hotel, directly opp times square, right beside lorong baru (road to subway). note, they are now halal certified, if that is a consideration for gifts.

personally, Him Hiang, the mung bean paste is better, but Seng Hiang, the skin is more fragrant. u can go to the place and request for sample to try try.

in addition, there is ban hiang (can get at airport departure floor), seng seng hiang, ming hiang, etc. many many brands, if possible, just go for sampling. if no time, stick to the above 3. Like a local penangite told me, any brand longer then 1 year is okie, else no business it will close already.

for non- tau sa piah, let me introduce Ming Xiang Tai (名香泰餅家), there is a branch along Armenian street, very near chew jetty. This branch also features the street art of the 2 kids stealing buns right outside the side entrance.

This place sells cantonese pastries like egg tart, century egg tart, etc. They sell in gift boxes too. I feel this is a hidden gem in penang. I personally recommend the egg tarts and law mai kai(chilli sauce very good). When u eat them on the spot, very shiok (especially if u can get the egg tarts right from oven). Also, they sell some herbal teas and soya bean milk in glass bottles. I usually use this place as a pit-spot to hide from the sun. :s13:

note, if u buy their chilli or kaya bottles, remember to check in luggage, dun be kuku like me and put in carry on then forced to throw away..:(

seng hiang is seal packed too. also okie can last 1 week or so.

but ghee hiang one, even though is sealed pack, take out its too hard and dry. not like last time.

even the Xiang Xiang brand, i bought, also can last.
