is Aego M much better than t3 2.1 in terms of gaming ?

what do you go for in gaming and what games, how lousy can it get on a pair of good speakers, you like bass? put it at 3 and your room will earthquake.

yes, i also think t3 sucks :p different class from aego m oldhorse and and the better swans m50 and above and the AE.

i think im very picky i want clarity bass. not rumbling, humming, boomy bass. loud and clear. t3 sound so muffled.. bought creative blaster z like waste my money. not much better than onboard audio

i mainly play rpg, action games diablo 3

like to listen to music and ambience, voice acting, while punching through wall, slaughtering enemies.

think i need to go somewhere to test the speakers.

You burn a cd of rpg music, d3 music and also convert mp3 of rpg/d3 gameplay music into cd, bring down to audit the aego m, and put into mp3 player and audit sp2500 which is quite ok for gaming at cybermind.

wah seh this thread is around here.

been on aegoM since 2005 or 2006 till now. my set still going ok despite some issues but i can live with it.

only downside after all these years is there are times when i wished they have a external remote instead of the one at the subwoofer.
Same sia. That time the set cost about 360. But for an early adopter who enjoyed hours upon hours of melodies, it was worth it.

The only problem is that the volume knob is wearing out and causing pops and crackles when adjusting at my usual volume. :( Otherwise it's still enjoying the pleasure of playing Final Fantasy, Studio Ghibli, Nolan movie soundtracks and effects and Yiruma and Hillsong tracks. :)

Proud owner of Aego M 2.1! Got it from CE @ SLS yesterday for $290 cash, manage to haggle a bit from $299. The shop owner recommend me to change to Amphenol cable and connector for better sound quality, but how much more improvement would there be for an additional of $40?

Yes it can. Take note the earphone jack bypasses the rca cable. Means if you got jack plugged into the front port. Will bypass the rca input

Does anyone know where I can repair the Aego M for cheap? One side of my speakers is very soft, tried swapping cable and the other speaker that works fine but still soft so I guess its the connectors or something inside that is spoilt.

Wonder if anyone in SLT can repair it. hmmm city electronics probably will cost quite a fair bit.

just bought an Aegos last week for the living room of sister-in-law.

paired it with a brand new denon x2000 receiver bought at KEC-Adelphi, $750. We tested the cambridge audio 5.1 $1??? tested the tannoys mercury V $400. when we were at KEC.

We spent a whole day testing various speakers at Adelphi, then Bose, then halfway through walking at Millenia walk - I suggested maybe we can plug an Aegos into it, since we were looking at Bose.

headed down to CityElectronics , rushing-reaching at 7.30 PM.

Was in the CityElectronics for a good hour, testing various bookshelves speakers. Tested the wharfedale 10.2 $320 , tested the wharfedale dx1 5.1 $980, Tested the Accoustic Energy Bookshelf $300

but in the end, after one round. I still bought the aegos.

CityElectronic was very nice, no rush. no pressure. let me test so many songs from my note2. Watched many movie scenes. They closed at 8.30 PM but I didn't feel being hussled/rushed.

by the time, I left happy, It was 8.40 and they closed the shop after. Amazing service, A chap called Melvin helped make my life *difficult*choosing the speakers. He was plugging so many speakers one after another for me to test.

and this was even though I had bought the av receiver from a different place, even though they sold it too.

Bill came to $1060. Totally happy with purchase. Very tight and precise bass while watching movies. On level 1 bass only. sounds precise versus other higher settings. Had originally set aside a budge of $2000, so naturally, I was pleased that I managed to save a significant amount on the present. ;-D

No overrun or stress on the bass. ( There was in the beginning but after a week, it played all movies without the bass breaking.)

Aegos only placed at 40% volume x Denon 50% volume filled the whole living room. Living room is huge, one of those corner 5 rooms hdb.

So why didn't we buy the bookshelves / bought the Aegos instead?
- The size.
- sound quality was amazing
- price point was brilliant, gave bookshelves in same price range a good run
- did I say the size? This was a big factor. Sister-in-Law was a young family and CO thinks they will prefer a smaller speaker set instead of one of those bookshelves.

* Bose was hugely disappointing. but without it, I would not have thought of Aegos. Bose guided me to the test room, then played the Book of Eli, fast forwarded to the shootout on the mainstreet. Brilliant/Amazing sound from the 5 speakes but when I plugged in my note2 to play my flacs it failed miserably. Completely no ability to play music. Everything sounded hollow. at first I thought it was the 5.1, so I converted it to pure stereo, also disappointed. Said my thank you and left.

hosehbo? and River.

The fix the problem with
- one side soft
- one side no sound

Remove rear panel of sub.
Remove box above sub speaker.
Remove Volume knob assembly by unscrewing size 8 nut.
Re-solder the earphone jack. The five contact points.

Cold solder or crack contact is the culprit.

+ edited the post for this.

You have to do this even though you are not using the 3.5mm input jack on the front of the subwoofer.

The RCA at the back of the sub connects to the front volume knob - so the problem manifest itself as an rear RCA issue, when it is actually a problem with the front contact of the 3.5mm jack.

Good luck and may you continue to enjoy this wonderful sound system.
